GalCruzer Posted January 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2014 I guess 3 technically, since it is a 2 night cruise. Anyway, we are going to be in FL as part of our vacation at this time, end of August. I have always wanted to go on the Oasis. So we are looking for the best ideas, to-do's and dining options to enjoy this entire ship to the max in that amount of time. Any suggestions for must do's and must eats are appreciated. BTW we do plan to get a BW balcony view room as well. :)
lrn2cruise Posted January 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2014 Wow! I just checked this cruise on RC website. Looks like a lot of fun. Would love to go. In all honesty, I dont think there is a lot of time to enjoy the ship to its fullest. I think if we went, alot of our cash would be used to do Atlantis with our son. He wants to go. We would most likely do the big plan.
champagne123 Posted January 24, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 24, 2014 (edited) On the Oasis for 7 days.... On the Allure for 7 days... Still no where NEAR enough time to do anything. If I ever have the opportunity to board either one of these ships again....I would not leave the ship. I would stay on board and do everything. GalCruzer Posted January 24, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted January 24, 2014 For us we have done a couple cruises to the Bahamas, so we would not be interested in going in there again. We would definitely stick with just activities on the ship itself. Which is why we are looking to find out what are the not to be missed activities, restaurants etc. :)
Rare countess5 Posted January 24, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 24, 2014 Sitting in Ft Lauderdale now waiting to board On Oasis tomorrow for the second time, Allure done once. Both ships basically the same. Reason going back again not enough time to enjoy it all the first two times. I would suggest, just go with it and enjoy. Plan to come back because you will want to once on her! :D
kruzerci Posted January 25, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 25, 2014 We were booked on that cruise, but I cancelled a few weeks ago. Too expensive for such a short trip. It's really just one day on the ship. It took us two days just to get oriented on the Oasis :D

Rare aubreyc1988 Posted January 25, 2014 #9 Share Posted January 25, 2014 you'll never get to really experience the ship, but here's what i would hit in order of importance (been on allure, but ships are practically the same) 1) The Aqua Show - DO NOT MISS THIS - we went twice on Allure it was THAT good 2) Broadway shows! They are fantastic and I'm sure Hairspray is great 3) Ice show! Also great 4) the hot tubs are a must! 5) ON Air Karaoke late at night is always fun 6) Park Cafe for lunch! Roast Beef Sandwich! 7) The Parade - Especially if you have kids - but not sure if they will do this or not on a short cruise 8) Flash mob - if they do it

I would move the Park Café up to a must do. Don't bother with the Windjammer there are many more places to eat Enjoy it!!!!

smeck Posted January 25, 2014 #15 Share Posted January 25, 2014 A two day hardly enough time to get everything in. My advice just go and enjoy the ship and whatever happens, happens. To go with a plan to see and do everything just impossible and would drive you crazy.
GalCruzer Posted January 25, 2014 Author #16 Share Posted January 25, 2014 I have been able to preview both the Aqua and Ice Shows, the look like something we would want to do! Park Café sounds like a must since it has been recommended on other boards as well. The Parade looked like fun as well and Karaoke sounds like it would be fun for night time entertainment. And the Flash Mob would be great to see as well as the rising tide bar! Thank you...:) Anything else is greatly appreciated! No sleep on this cruise ;)
ChipLondon Posted January 25, 2014 #17 Share Posted January 25, 2014 (edited) Unfortunately it is actually more like 1 and a half, you will board the ship about midday and they will kick you off soon after you wake up after the second night, and there will be few facilities open on that morning. I always laugh when our American friends refer to such cruises as 3 day/2 night, or 5 day/4 night cruises. I think it mkaes them feel as if they are getting a better deal somehow. :D You will love The Big O, and any time on board is better than none, I hope you get to see The Aqua Show it is amazing, whatever you do have fun :) I guess 3 technically, since it is a 2 night cruise. Rare Familygoboston Posted January 25, 2014 #18 Share Posted January 25, 2014 Come on people, of course it's way too short, that's why the OP is asking for help! Here is my list- it's based on the "unique-ness" of these ships, given your limited time: -Flowrider (if you have not done this on one of the Freedom class ships) even just to watch for 20 minutes. -Aqua show, which is unique to this ship -Dine in outdoors in Central Park and on the boardwalk! these are unique venues to this ship and very unique on board atmosphere. -see the "Come Fly with me"show in the main theater -go to the Comedy Club -ride the "Rising Tide Bar" -the ice show on Oasis features a unique sand artist worth seeing - see a parade on the Royal Promenade -if you are going to do a pool, do the cantilevered hot tubs near the Solarium If it were me with 2 days, I wouldn't waste time in the MDR, which is the same as any cruise, or at the pool (you can do that at your FLL hotel) I would spend time relaxing and dining in the unique venues of this ship, and seeing the shows. Don't spend anytime in a room where it's the same as any other cruise- casino, spa, etc. plan like a maniac, book the shows they offer (obviously all won't be available) and then fill in your dining venues with experiences near those venues. Plan stuff like "ride Rising Tide" into your day or it won't happen. Don't get distracted...if you really want to experience the uniqueness of this ship, you need to be organized and precise. It doesn't sound relaxing, because it isn't- do that somewhere else...you are paying a premium for 2 days on this ship, enjoy what it has to offer,:D

Rare aubreyc1988 Posted February 1, 2014 #21 Share Posted February 1, 2014 (edited) Lady in adventures on Indy said they will try to cram all activities in. Now that we know this itinerary is available we might do a b2b with it...7 day and then the 2 day Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Edited February 1, 2014 by aubreyc1988
