Zoey Posted January 26, 2014 #26 Share Posted January 26, 2014 As usual.......awoke at 3:47 after four hours of sleep. SO let's get this show on the road!! As sad as it may be, it's 4:15 a.m., and I'm watching for Getaway on the two New York webcams at the same time I'm watching an episode of the New Adventures of Old Christine for the third time. Rare KeithJenner Posted January 26, 2014 #27 Share Posted January 26, 2014 Apparently sunrise is at 7.09 in New York, so it looks like it will be reasonably light when it comes in. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Single Cruiser Posted January 26, 2014 #28 Share Posted January 26, 2014 (edited) After she picked up the pilot she did a series of s type turns. Pilot checking out her maneuverability maybe? She's now back facing the right way but behind schedule .. Edited January 26, 2014 by Single Cruiser

No, I think the vessel moved position so the pilot could actually board the vessel, instead of the 35 mph gusts blowing him/her into the sea. IMO. The ship positioned itself between the pilot boat and the wind, allowing a comfortable as possible boarding. :)

Zoey Posted January 26, 2014 #33 Share Posted January 26, 2014 What are you guys watching that lets you see actual movement? The only thing I can find just shows vessels stationary and I have to refresh to see if it has moved at all.

Well, I have plans to sail on Getaway in May, solo in a large aft balcony, and had no plans for Breakaway. I guess that's why I have more interest this morning. Though I can understand the excitement for a ship like these two would have been stronger when Breakaway first made an appearance.

Single Cruiser Posted January 26, 2014 #41 Share Posted January 26, 2014 Thanks guys. I found it. Can't she go any faster? LOL They slowed her right down to 9 knots. Now she's making the run for the bridge at over 15knots to lower her effective height..
bear3412 Posted January 26, 2014 #42 Share Posted January 26, 2014 The pilot boat is staying way out near delivery. What's up with that. I see no others ships nearby that may need a pilot. It's cold and windy out there. ;) Are they going to wait for departure? :D :p
bear3412 Posted January 26, 2014 #43 Share Posted January 26, 2014 (edited) Winds are 10 mph sustained, gust to 20 mph min. Temp 19F  This is why we sail out of FL. :D The Haven isn't so cozy currently. lol :p Edited January 26, 2014 by bear3412
bear3412 Posted January 26, 2014 #44 Share Posted January 26, 2014 She trying to stay into the wind. But she has to turn north soon. I'll bet those seas were brutal of the coast. The winds here in DC were impressive. Can't imagine the seas up north a bit. Hope all sailors are doing well. I'll bet they're happy to see land.
