Deeside dave Posted January 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2014 Just read a review posted this week about the Celebration where the above code was announced over the tannoy at 1 20 am..I'm sure that one of our illustrious contributors can enlighten me as to the meaning of this before we go on the 31st of this month.Apparently it was only cabins near the loudspeakers that heard it and some passengers even dressed and left their cabins. Our first time on Celebrity (done Dream & Majesty ) and ignoring negative comments as both our previous cruises had lots of less than flattering messages and we had great times.Have to say though always best to reserve a cabin so not near the stern and the consequent noise and vibration .Same applies to cabins right at front as early morning docking with manhole covers banging ,chains clanking and thrusters thrusting(poor English I know and I passed the 11 plus) can be pretty noisy.Have a good day all!! kruzseeka Posted January 27, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 27, 2014 not sure on code alpha? (could be a flood or a medical emergency?)...I know code bravo is fire and code charly is to summon heads of department to the bridge/or location given I believe Code Alpha is a medical emergency - and obviously Deck 6 would be the location of where the appropriate responders have to go. It's happens most cruises really - you'd be lucky if, with so many people on board someone wasn't taken ill and needed immediate help. Once someone collapsed in the dining room, often it's falls. I guess the location in an instance like this it would be in a public area otherwise emergency help could be despatched directly to a cabin. Shallwe123 Posted January 27, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 27, 2014 On Celebration for New Year and we heard Code Alpha, Lido .... We later learnt that a small child had slipped around the pool area, medical team arrived and attended to him. Heard his mum saying later that he was fine. :)
jojo67 Posted January 27, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 27, 2014 We had a code Victoria while sailing on Dream during her first season with Thomsons, we soon discovered it meant extreme flooding as water gushed from the cabin a few doors down! geomagot Posted January 28, 2014 #12 Share Posted January 28, 2014 most accidents are trips & falls...I have lost count of the amount of people I have seen onboard walking with crutches a few days into the cruise (and then they turn up for zip wiring where they have to climb a tree or for a speedboat trip where you have to wade into the sea and climb up a ladder?) there are a lot of steps/wet decks/raised thresholds/wet kids/heavy doors/anvils left lying about/alcohol...take care on board…. keep an eye on your children....its a working ship and has...machinery....its not like a resort where everything can be made safe and child proof watch the safety video (they leave it running in the cabin on arrival...so that we can arrive and immediately switch over to the world news from azerbaijan) its worth watching the safety video at least once as it shows where most of the hazards are onboard a ship and where we need to take some extra care
