Interesting find, Wes. Look forward to seeing the new package.

Also, the previous glitches on "My Silversea" involving the Activities section of our upcoming April-May Shadow cruise have been corrected, and all now seems to be functioning well! But I still don't plan to book restaurants for the later 2014 and 2015 cruises. We have enough trouble planning tomorrow's dinner.

Generally this looks like an improvement. One oddity is that the guest info form still asks whether one would like one's name to appear in the Voyage Guest List, surely about time SS made their minds up on this.

A second problem is that the contact sheet now insists that you provide an email address for the contact, not much good in my dad's case as he is electronically illiterate. Ok, I could put a false one in but that defeats the point.

A third issue is on the travel info page, if you have chosen independant travel you now have to fill in one of the flight or hotel stay options to complete the page. I don't have a problem with providing this info but there will be times when a blank default would work better.

I hope someone from SS is monitoring this thread, but won't hold my breath.

I too discovered a new website this morning however I am still waiting for the validation email. How long, after registering, should I expect to wait before receiving that email?

Meanwhile, I cannot get to our voyage information which does not exactly thrill me, nor were we informed of this new development.

Check you junk mail folder .. thats where I found mine. It was sent a min after I hit the submit button.

Hmmm. I received the validation within minutes...it seems like it was an automatic response, so not sure why it's taken so long.

Decided that maybe it was my email address that the system did not like and so used another address (different server) and managed to get the activation link.

The system still thinks the first email address is active with someone else and so will not let me change the email login; least of my problems at the moment.

A wonderful agent at Silverseas said there were some issues with this new software and would have IT look into the activation link problem.

By the time I hit send, opened my email program, and looked in the junk mail folder, it was there waiting for me. So, I'd say the validation email message is sent immediately once you register.

I know it's early days so probably no-one has actually sailed since this new 'service' has been operating but my question is:

I've booked the restaurants I want but it says confirmation needs to be given once on board, so does this mean we still have to race to the restaurants on the first day to check we are actually booked in and if not, book ourselves in? Seems to defeat the purpose of doing it on-line.

Was hoping we would have the confirmation slip waiting for us in our room.

As I said, I realise no-one probably knows what happens yet, but any thoughts?

Thanks.

Karin

I predict the following problems following the online ability to book ahead:

1. Cruisers over-enthusiastically book into one or more dining venues before changing their mind once on board.

2. One meets fellow cruisers but can't eat together unless a previous booking is cancelled.

3. People forward book in excess of what they will require just to be sure; just in case they fancy that restaurant that night.

4. The ''specialist'' dining venues work under capacity because of cancellations as described in 1. 2. and 3. above.

Wonder if this will keep my contacts any better than the previous version. Everything was picked up except the contact which I have now entered probably a dozen times. My sister is a really nice person- I can't imagine what Silversea has against her!

I agree with your analysis of the dining booking problems. We prefer to know the dress codes, evening activities, etc. before booking the specialty restaurants. We often like to book them with friends, which is more difficult to do far in advance. Over many years with Silversea we've had very little difficulty booking restaurants during the cruise and haven't needed to rush to book everything on the first day. I worry that random overbooking in advance will cause the problems which you have listed.

I don't know what the problem is, and so far SS hasn't responded to my pleas for help, but I do not see anything which allows

/invites me to book restaurants or tours. What am I missing?

And, when I do find these portals, how do I send my wishes on to SS?

I updated my profile, but can't figure out how to be sure SS got the update.

Feel like an idiot.

I think I like it. Annoying the man of the house has a profile and I don't but SS says I could if I used another e-mail address. Also, I pointed out to IT that both people in the suite get the same pillow, like it or not. It will all work out eventually.

For some reason we had a bit of the same trouble. More of my profile information transferred over than Mrs. K's but it's all fixed now. There were even a few pieces of my information that somehow got left behind in the transfer. All fine now and everything seems good. Took a bit of looking around and trying different buttons to see what information is where but I feel fairly comfortable with the new screens now. Certainly a lot more sophisticated than the old interface. Interesting that they don't show your stateroom for your booked cruise....at least not where I've found it. I'm not expecting it to change so no big deal.

It is there. Go to documents and then travel journal where the cabin number is shown.

I still must be having "operator headspace error" as my journal only shows past cruises. Documents for me is nothing more than the guest information which shows my reservation number and the standard information like address, contact information, passport, etc., but not my cabin. No doubt it's there someplace...... :o
