scifisteve Posted February 5, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2014 On paying the Balance of my TA, I received a new Booking Conformation, which shows that for some reason my OBC has increased from the $80 I got when I booked (Solo Traveller Vantage Fair) to $155. This made me think when is this credit used? do they use it first then when it is gone, start adding the charges to your Credit/Debit Card of is it just taken of the final Bill ? Thanks
pmb1 Posted February 5, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2014 Take a look at what ask.cunard.com has to say about OBC; for example, What can on board credit be used against?

Thanks Hello scifisteve, Just over half will be taken off for your gratuities for the 7 night voyage and the remainder may be spent on various extras including soft drinks, alcohol, coffees, posters, books etc. Anything spent above the obc will automatically be charged to your credit card and during the night before disembarking you should receive a summary of your spending under your door and if all is in order a nil balance on your bill. scifisteve Posted February 5, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) Anything spent above the obc will automatically be charged to your credit card Thanks that what I wanted to know, makes sense if they use the OBC first before Pre authorizing anything against a Card. Pushka Posted February 6, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 6, 2014 You're welcome. ask.cunard.com is the place to start to answer any question of fact (e.g. What ply is the toilet paper?). Yes, I find ask.cunard really helpful, but only when someone has posted the link to a particular question like you did :p. When I search myself I end up with really weird results. And its possible that on the Aussie site that it just isn't well indexed. So what ply is the toilet paper then.:D

Basilon Posted February 8, 2014 #10 Share Posted February 8, 2014 What is the difference between on board spend and on board credit?
scifisteve Posted February 9, 2014 Author #11 Share Posted February 9, 2014 (edited) On board Spend can be what you charge to your Account, although it can mean the same as on board credit., as in you have $80 on board spend On Board Credit is something that is given to you by the company to spend aboard the Ship. sinova Posted April 5, 2014 #12 Share Posted April 5, 2014 You can use your OBC for anything, drinks, excursions, shoppings etc. However you can also cash it in in the casino (take it out as cash) with a 2-3% deduction. You can use the cash for whatever purposes (even take it home)
Salacia Posted April 5, 2014 #13 Share Posted April 5, 2014 You can use your OBC for anything, drinks, excursions, shoppings etc. However you can also cash it in in the casino (take it out as cash) with a 2-3% deduction. You can use the cash for whatever purposes (even take it home) There are restrictions. To quote Cunard: On board credit may not be used against: Purchasing shore excursions prior to embarkation Purchasing restaurant cover charges prior to embarkation Visas that require payment Medical facilities Future Cruise Downpayments Artwork Ad hoc gratuities Foreign currency Casino chips, credits or any other kind of gambling. What can on board credit be used against? When on board credit (either received as part of a promotion or purchased via our Gift Collection) is applied to your on board account, you may use this against most purchases on board. This includes: Items purchased from any of the shops Spa, & salon treatments and services Photography services Laundry & dry cleaning Internet and telephone charges Shore excursions (when booked on board and not prior to embarkation) Beverages from the bar and restaurants (where applicable) Restaurant cover charges (when booked on board and not prior to embarkation) Automatic tips (gratuities). copied from https://ask.cunard.com/help/cunard/fleet/obc_used
cunardaddict Posted April 5, 2014 #14 Share Posted April 5, 2014 Thanks that what I wanted to know, makes sense if they use the OBC first before Pre authorizing anything against a Card. OBC is used up before they start charging you. But all consumption covered by OBC is not subject to CWC rebates (i.e. laundry)!
