Norwegian Getaway Can't Wait to Sail Again !!! by Uncle Bernie

This past Friday, February 7th, I had the opportunity to attend the official christening ceremonies and then sail on an all-too-short overnight voyage from Miami on the spectacular Norwegian Getaway. Not counting some time for sleeping (yes, we actually did get some sleep), we spent about 12 hours on this amazing new ship and ran ourselves ragged checking out virtually every public area, entertainment venue, traditional and specialty restaurants along with dozens of staterooms and suites. Sister-ship to the New York based Breakaway, the Getaway was designed with a true Miami feel from the Mojito Bar and Churrascaria to the spectacular hull artwork which was designed by David “Lebo” LeBatard, a Cuban-American artist who is based in South Florida. To add even more of a genuine south Florida atmosphere to the occasion the beautiful Miami Dolphins cheerleaders did the honors as the official godmothers, the onboard ceremonies were hosted by actress, dancer and television personality Brooke Burke Charvet, we were treated to an exciting live musical performance by Grammy award-winning rapper Pitbull, and shortly after we sailed from Miami at 9 P.M. we viewed a great fireworks show. Statendam Statendam Panama Cruise January 15-30, 2014 by pbnjrockette

This was a great cruise! It had been 3 years since our last HAL cruise. It was our first trip through the Panama Canal and we were quite happy with the itinerary---San Diego to Fort Lauderdale. It was a "just right" length of cruise for us (although trading 82 degree weather for 28 degree weather at home was almost enough for us to head back! STATENDAM--the SHIP The Statendam is a beautiful old ship. Love the teak walking decks but there are many areas where the ship is looking very tired. Carpets are worn and stained, especially the "day" carpets in the elevators are quite dingy and do not give a welcoming look. There are lots of areas where the wood molding is dented and banged up. But everywhere workers are painting and cleaning and touching up daily--there is always someone making the ship shine and sparkle! The beauty of the Statendam is in its small size (which is why we like this smaller class of ship). It was so easy to feel comfortable in a short time and learn the layout. (Okay I was still getting lost a week later… and there are some places where you CAN'T get THERE from HERE… Deck 7…Aft…) It is amazing how many nooks and crannies there are and how many places you can find to sit and read or stare out at sea or listen to music or sip a drink…. Disney Fantasy Disney knows how to do it! by kuncelk

Having looked through all the reviews on this website a lot before we left on our cruise, and during the time when we were deciding which cruise line to go on, I thought I'd offer my two cents. We chose the Disney cruise for our 10 year old daughter's sake, and found it to be lots of fun for adults and kids no longer into Disney Princesses. The boat was beautiful and immaculate, with enough activities to keep us all busy. When we just wanted to chill out, the Disney movies (and others) on demand in our stateroom was awesome. Like other reviews, we found the pools to be woefully too small to accommodate so many people/kids. And after a while, the water was an uninviting murky color anyway -- so no thanks! We did enjoy the hot tubs -- again, need more and/or bigger ones. We sailed right after Royal Caribbean had 600-700 people get sick, so when Disney clamped way down on the sanitizing while in Costa Maya, I thought we were in for an awful time. We did hear that a few people were sick, but their extra care in preventing everyone from being near the food obviously contained a potential outbreak. Dining rooms and the food and food choices were amazing, also they totally make sure kids are happy with typical kid food available, as well as fancier foods. Our daughter's favorite was Animator's Palate. Didn't get a chance to dine at Palo or Remy, but would have liked to. Cabana's (breakfast and lunch buffet) was good, but got really congested around the buffet and in the dining area. Food choices were good, but I have to give the scrambled eggs and bacon low marks. Carnival Breeze Breeze belongs on your bucket list! by Tailwind1

My wife and I have just returned from an 8-day cruise on the Carnival Breeze. This was a much anticipated voyage as we were very eager to be aboard a carnival ship that wasn't designed by someone obviously on an LSD trip. This was our 28th cruise, most have been on Carnival or RCCL. The Breeze did not disappoint. This was among our top 4-5 favorite cruises and it is going to take a bit of an effort to find flaws here. The Breeze belongs on your bucket list. If you have some negative, preconceived opinions about Carnival, they will disappear after a week on this ship! Pros: We've all read about super-fast checkin and how we can be in our staterooms in record time, the Breeze has established a new standard, although this is partly due to our Platinum VIFP status. We checked in at the airport in Miami, with nobody in queue at the Platinum/Diamond line. We had our room keys before our luggage was off the airplane. When we arrived at the ship terminal, we bypassed every line with our "Priority Boarding" card. This is a great way to start a vacation! Continue reading... Breeze belongs on your bucket list!

Coral Princess Beautiful Ship and Wonderful Time (D709) by fltam

This was our first Princess cruise. We have previously taken Holland America Cruises which we really enjoy. The Coral Princess is a beautiful ship - top to bottom. The atrium is spectacular with it spiraling staircase and color changing mini-lights on the ceiling. The light golden color scheme throughout Coral Princess results in a soft and warm feeling with a contemporary twist. Not overdone - just right! EMBARKMENT: was somewhat slow. I estimate we were in line maybe 20-30 minutes? DISEMBARMENT: was a lot quicker and worked different than Holland. On Holland you can stay in your room until your DISEMBARKMENT number is called. On CORAL, you are given COLOR/NUMBER tags and a disembarkment time to report to a specific room to meet with your other disembarking passengers. However, prior to meeting in your 'special' room, everyone must be out of their room by 9:00 am. regardles sof what time you have been given to disembark. So you then need to find a place around the ship to sit and relax until the time Many people sat in the LIDO Buffet area. When it is your time to disembark, you go to the appointed room and sit there until that prompt you to leave in a group. It worked really well. It was comfortable and very organized.
