redsoxfan58 Posted March 1, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 1, 2014 I was checking out the menu for our upcoming cruise and was wondering what some of the best menu items are. Last cruise on RC was in 2007 so I'm sure the food has changed. What are some of your favorite dishes and desserts?

redsoxfan58 Posted March 1, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted March 1, 2014 Rosemary Lamb Shank. I noticed they serve lamb 2 nights. My husband and I both love lamb so that's good to know.
Brigbound Posted March 1, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) I was checking out the menu for our upcoming cruise and was wondering what some of the best menu items are. Last cruise on RC was in 2007 so I'm sure the food has changed. What are some of your favorite dishes and desserts? Purely subjective- If offered: Appetizer: Smoked Fish Tapenade Main: Anything..... with a 'side' of NY strip steak Dessert: Not my thing but the Creme Brûlée looks good. Enjoy your cruise!!! britty1 Posted March 1, 2014 #8 Share Posted March 1, 2014 I really like the cold fruity soups - they are delicious, maybe doesn't sound it but truely they are. Shrimp cocktail is quite good too. Never had a problem finding something that I like on the main entree menu so I think you will be OK -- I like the prime rib, usually first night, the lamb which is two nights and the duck. The deserts are OK - this time I plan on trying the cheese plate with some coffee instead of a desert at least once. And don't forget there is some kind of bailey's liquer if you choose. :D
luvscruising2007 Posted March 1, 2014 #9 Share Posted March 1, 2014 I find most of the beef, lamb, pork or duck dishes are good. I stay away from turkey, fish or chicken. Just my preference. The prime rib is my favorite. I love the chocolate sensation, it's on the menu every night. And also the shrimp cocktail.
Rare LMaxwell Posted March 1, 2014 #10 Share Posted March 1, 2014 I enjoy the duck, as well as the sliders off the everyday menu served w steak fries. The Baramundi fish at MDR lunch was quite good as well

renee1222 Posted March 1, 2014 #16 Share Posted March 1, 2014 I am a seafood lover, so some of my favorites are the seafood pasta, carved beef tenderloin, garlic tiger shrimp, and lobster. For appetizers, garlic soup, French onion soup, caesar salad, bay scallops, crabcake, and arancini. I like the strawberry cheesecake and chocolate sensation for dessert. If you go to Chops, the Mud Pie is the best dessert on the ship!

bighairtexan Posted March 1, 2014 #19 Share Posted March 1, 2014 Funny that someone mentioned the sliders. I don't much even like hamburgers but there was one night where nothing appealed to me and I ordered them. The tomato brioche rolls were WONDERFUL and the fries w/ the aioli on the side were also outstanding. Also I reallllly hate fruit. But on day 1 the Blueberry peach crumble (I think that's what it's called) is really good. Who knew?
BekkaW Posted March 1, 2014 #20 Share Posted March 1, 2014 The chicken marsala and the garlic tiger shrimp are both really good.
Surfguyxxx Posted March 1, 2014 #21 Share Posted March 1, 2014 I've got to go with the Warm Goat Cheese souffle with a Basil Cream Sauce. It is served at Chops and it just melts in your mouth.
Bellamariya Posted March 1, 2014 #22 Share Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) For me the best thing was the Tutti Salad Bar for lunch in the MDR on sea days. Beautiful fresh salad loaded with prawns, smoked chicken and camembert. My next cruise has 4 sea days and I couldn't be happier! sweetpea1714 Posted March 1, 2014 #23 Share Posted March 1, 2014 The benefit of the cruise is that if you order something and don't like it...you just order something else.
Clarea Posted March 1, 2014 #24 Share Posted March 1, 2014 Scallop risotto (it's an appy, but I asked for it for main course!) Unfortunately discontinued (along with Vidalia Onion Tart) with the new menu.
Rare island lady Posted March 1, 2014 #25 Share Posted March 1, 2014 The smoked chicken breast appetizer is good also. My favorite entree is the horseradish encrusted salmon. :)
