satxdiver Posted March 6, 2014 Author #30 Share Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) Wednesday – Belize This is a tender port and pax went to the Island MDR (deck 5) to get a tender ticket. Everyone had to get their own tender ticket and the staff took groups to the tenders depending on their ticket numbers. Pax on Princess tours had priority. The captain announced at about 11:00 that tender tickets were no longer required and we could go to deck 4 midship to board a tender. We arrived there a little before noon and between waiting for the tender to fill up and the ride to the port, 45 minutes went by so plan ahead! Having been to Belize many times before, we stayed in the port area. Bilikin beer was 2/$5 so we downed a few. We went back to the ship about 2:30 and it took a total of 30 minutes due again to waiting and the actual trip. They had a liquor collection table set up this time but I have seen very little alcohol available in Belize. They looked terribly bored! Last tender arrived at the ship at 4:40 and unloaded. We were told to the last tender would leave the pier at 4:15. We departed soon after for Houston. We had breakfast again in the MDR and today was not nearly as crowded as yesterday perhaps because the HC was back to self-serve. Yesterday the MDR was full almost as if it was dinner time. We finally saw Body Balancers Duo Push which turned out to be two guys into gymnastics. The captain announced that a front was expected when we go across the Gulf and very rough water would occur later tomorrow night. We are doing 19 knots right now. Tonight was Crab Shack in the Café Caribe - $20/each Ships in port – NCL Dawn, NCL Jewel, Carnival Legend, Caribbean Princess Dinner theme – Chef’s Dinner Daily pizza – 4 cheese Night entertainment: MUTS – Gravity Theater – Magician Hawley Magic – Magic and illusionist (7:00, 8:15 & 10:00) Crooners – Bert Stratton Explorer Lounge – C&W Hoe Down Wheelhouse Bar –Cryptic Blue Duo Club Fusion –East Coast Connection Piazza – Cryptic Blue Duo (6:15), Passion (7:00), Body Balancers Duo Push (7:45), Konstiantyn on piano (8:00) Skywalkers – 70’s Disco Churchill’s Cigar Bar – NBA Basketball Edited March 6, 2014 by satxdiver
satxdiver Posted March 6, 2014 Author #31 Share Posted March 6, 2014 How is the MDR for breakfast/lunch? Does it take an incredibly long time to eat? We like the HC cuz we can usually grab food fast and then go do something else.... Maybe on a sea day we will try the MDR. We sail in a few weeks so are so glad to see your post!!! Thank you! :) We have had breakfast and lunch in the MDR on prior sailings. It certainly is slower than the HC but less rushed. The food comes quicker than at dinner. Lunch is only served in the MDR on sea days and on embarkation day. Sent from my iPod touch using Forums Houston has had miserable weather the last few days, but it's looking better for Saturday. Low 48deg, high 68. Morning should be dry: a slight, 20%, chance of rain in the afternoon. The current dew point is 37. If that holds up till Saturday, fog shouldn't be a problem. Bon Voyage!:) Temperature today was 79F and tomorrow (Thursday) will be 68F (brrr!). I imagine the lido deck will not be as crowded as in the past few days. lw4484 Posted March 6, 2014 #32 Share Posted March 6, 2014 Do they keep the same movies on MUTS during the day? I wanna see gravity but don't want to miss out on the shows at night since that's my favorite part! I guess I'll have to rent when I get home lol! Sounds like you're having a blast! We sail on the 22nd and so appreciate your live from! What has been your favorite so far?!?! Let us know how bad the seas get. Never been in bad water so hope it's not terrible!! Good luck! I have an afternoon flight out of Houston that I'm hoping to make:rolleyes: From my report on our February CB cruise which reached Houston on schedule at 6 AM on Saturday: Disembarkation ran about on time per the published schedule. Express walk offs were scheduled from 7:05 AM until 7:55 AM. First bus for IAH disembarked at 8 AM, to HOU at 8:15. Last bus to IAH scheduled to disembark at 10:05 AM, to HOU at 9:05 AM. Last disembarkation was scheduled for 10:45 AM. There were nine of ten lanes open at immigration/customs so the lines were quickly. Three of the lanes were for non-US citizens and the other six were for US citizens. There was a line of taxis waiting after exiting the terminal. From when our color was called until we were in our car driving away was less than 30 minutes.
satxdiver Posted March 7, 2014 Author #38 Share Posted March 7, 2014 Thursday – at sea The MDR at breakfast was very crowded. We arrived at 8:45 and left at 10:00! We were seated at a table for 10 and service was extremely slow. No more 10 tops for us! I went to the Navigational talk by the third officer, a female from London. This is one of the better talks I have heard on the different ships. We went early (~5:30) to dinner since we wanted to attend the Circle Cocktail Party and were seated immediately. We were done by time to attend the party and later the marriage match game show. The CD really made the game show. The captain greeted everyone entering the party and spoke about his career. He was the first captain of the Royal and would be returning to the Royal to take it from FLL to northern Europe. The pax with the most days had 1098 days on Princess ships. It was announced that 51% of the pax aboard were return pax. I did not copy down the exact numbers at various levels. After the game show, I went to the Explorer Lounge to listen again to the East Coast Connection. If you like 60’s & 70’s rock music, then check out this band. We were given our disembarkation instructions and baggage tags. We are scheduled for the 8:20 AM meeting in the Casino as part of silver 4. The platinum departure lounge is in Club Fusion per normal where we will wait. This morning was 100% overcast and rain. We entered the Gulf earlier this morning. The afternoon brought sun and a bit of warmth getting pax out on the lido deck. The temperature hit the low 70’s. Wine Tasting – 3:00 in Island MDR - $9.50/each Veterans and active military get-together – 4:00 in Wheelhouse Bar hosted by CD staff Captain’s Circle Cocktail Party – 7:30 – Club Dinner theme – Captain’s Gala Dinner (lobster and beef wellington) Café Caribe dinner – Gala Buffet Daily pizza - vegitarian Night entertainment: MUTS – Captain Philips Theater – Zach Winningham – Vocalist/Instrumentalist (7:00, 8:15 & 10:00) Crooners – Bert Stratton Explorer Lounge – East Coast Connection Wheelhouse Bar –Cryptic Blue Duo Club Fusion – Marriage Match Game Show (9:15) Piazza – Cryptic Blue Duo (6:00), Konstiantyn on piano (7:00), Passion (9:15), Body Balancers Duo Push (7:45& 9:00) Piaza 10:30 PM – Caribbean Princess Piazza Party with Passion (10:30) Skywalkers – Michael Jackson Hour (10:00)

It is not bad though with moderate waves so far. The ship is moving some. I don't do movies but do like the live music. Never had a warm meal in the HC :p Not as many choices as the HC, but food in the MDR seems a little better, even when the dish is also served in the HC. It does take longer to finish your meal in the HC. Depending on the size of the table, up to 2 or 3 hours for a meal. If you request a smaller table (2 or 4 top) and tell the waiter you need to be out at a certain time. You will be there for a shorter period of time. We have found that Café Caribe on the larger ships tends to have almost as many entrée choices as the MDR, some even better. Also as in any buffet setting warmth is a question of how soon one gets to eating the food from when one receives the food. On the 2nd pass through the buffet we get just the hot entrée, but on our first pass we limit ourselves to the starters - salad, soup, pasta. And we've found waiters in Café Caribe to be just as good as in the MDR.

nrj19 Posted March 8, 2014 #50 Share Posted March 8, 2014 The email came around 2:15 this afternoon! I'm sure it's no biggie though. Every time we've ever followed the rules for when to show up, we arrive and it seemed like nobody else followed the rules and got there way before we did.
