So I installed the ncl iconcienge on my iPhone so I would have it ready to go once I'm on the ship next week. My phone is connected to my home Wi-Fi and my phone was laying on the table and all of a sudden I see something pop up and say you're now connected to ncl Wi-Fi what??????? Lol. Thought that was very weird.

That's pretty funny. Someone else posted about that happening to them in their house :)

Geri, have a great cruise! Get some rest and relaxation!

Oh, and can you please bring back some sunshine and warm weather????

Cheers!

I will do my best to bring some sunshine back. Right now the 10 day forecast is calling for highs of 53 and sunny on March 23 I hope that stays

Caught me by surprise the first time too. Here's the scoop. If you open the app at home it looks for any wifi signal (has no way of knowing if it is NCL's or not). It gets stranger. Like many apps, it runs in the background, so unless you quit the program (not just close), you'll find yourself getting, "You're now connected to NCL wifi" & "You're now disconnected from NCL wifi" messages all the time!

Had this happen once or twice starting a couple weeks back. Yesterday numerous times. NCL - fix your app. I even checked for updates. Today only once.

This is driving me crazy! Been home for a week and I get the "you are now disconnected..."popup hourly. I do not need to be reminded I'm back to reality! How do you stop this?

Like another poster said earlier, the app is running in the background. To quit the app on an iPhone or iPad, double click on the home button. This will bring up all the screens you currently have running. (They use up battery power by the way!). Flip thru the screens until you find the NCL screen. When you do just drag the screen up and it will disappear and thereby quit the program. The app stays installed on your device, it just basically shuts it off.

Technically, if app is properly written, it will stay in Suspended state, not using up any battery. I can see how iConcierge may be in Background state, since it is expected to handle WiFi phone calls and texts (if you pay for service). But forcing itself to be in Background instead of Suspended state, when you are not connected to proper WiFi name, is just a very crappy design from app developer.

I'm sure you are correct, but I'm afraid that their are plenty of very crappy apps out there, and not just from NCL.
