DSavard Posted March 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2014 With the much smaller balconies on Royal Princess, is it still possible to open the partition between them?

dedosr Posted March 17, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2014 (edited) The balcony dividers do open, however, on the Grand Class ships they would fold behind themselves. On the Royal, since the balconies are not as deep, they swing open against the balcony door. We had 4 balconies in a row. On three of them the divider door opened and blocked part of the stationary door of the sliding doors. In our case, the divider door opened in front of the sliding part of our balcony door, blocking half of the opening. We literally had to go out the door sideways because so much of the door was blocked. I hope I described this well. Hopefully in your situation the door will only block the stationary part of the sliding door. Edited March 17, 2014 by dedosr
Pam in CA Posted March 17, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 17, 2014 The balcony dividers do open, however, on the Grand Class ships they would fold behind themselves. Not quite correct. The dividers are immoveable. They cannot be removed, opened, folded, etc. However, there's a door in the divider that can be opened and secured against the divider for access between balconies. That is what I was trying to explain, that the divider door can open and be secured or folded against the divider in Grand Class. On Royal the divider door opens but then blocks part of the sliding balcony door as opposed to opening and swinging back and being secured to the divider. It opens up against the Balcony sliding door. In our case it party blocked the opening to the stateroom.

No problem getting in or out of the stateroom.
dedosr Posted March 18, 2014 #8 Share Posted March 18, 2014 We didn't have this problem. We had three mini suites open and it was a lot of fun. No problem getting in or out of the stateroom. We had 4 in a row. All were mini suites on the Royal Princess. 3 of them opened against the non movable part of the sliding door. Ours opened against the moving part of the sliding balcony door, hence blocking half of it. We had a great time also, just pointing this out to the OP that they might have the same situation.
