oaktreerb Posted March 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 18, 2014 Is he currently on the Statendam? His blog is not active as of today. I was looking forward to his daily insights. He left us with an exciting trip at the end of the 2013 Alaska season!
Rare TiogaCruiser Posted March 19, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 19, 2014 (edited) I thought he was rejoining sometime in April. In fact, I THOUGHT I had put it on my calendar- but don't find it now. It looks like they are rebuilding the site... Edited to add, old link gives a 404. Try this: http://www.hollandamericablog.com/albert/ Still don't find his return date..... Oh Copper????!!!! aliaschief Posted March 19, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 19, 2014 I believe Captain Albert was returning to sea in March maybe April. As an avid fan of his blog I hope it's soon. In the meantime the Master of the MS Amsterdam, Captain Mercer has a great one going on the World Cruise. sppunk Posted March 19, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 19, 2014 (edited) His last blog entry from Sept. 30, 2013, has this and it made it seem to me like he wouldn't blog again. :/ That brings us to the end of my last blog about Captain Albert’s adventures on the high seas. As posted before I am scheduled to take an extended leave and will be off the ship until 16 March 2014. Edited March 19, 2014 by sppunk
Rare TiogaCruiser Posted March 19, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 19, 2014 His last blog entry from Sept. 30, 2013, has this and it made it seem to me like he wouldn't blog again. :/ But on October 24, 2013 he wrote in part: ".....This redesign is still in process and will take another few days to complete. In the mean time we all, including me, have to patiently wait until this whole process has been completed. I am working with the head office to ensure that the Captain Albert blog will have everything that it had before. So I am asking for your patience and understanding until the blog site is fully “on the right course” again. I hope to start adding more material as soon as all the links inside the blog have been re-established. Best regards from windy England. Capt. Albert " See link I posted just before Bruce. RedmondCruiser Posted March 19, 2014 #11 Share Posted March 19, 2014 I was wondering the same thing. In Sept he indicated that he would be back on March 16th for a hand off in San Diego. HAL is not listing his blog on their blog so I wonder if they decided to drop his commentary. That would be a shame. I really enjoyed reading his daily blog and I hope that it will be up and running in the near future.
arzz Posted March 19, 2014 #12 Share Posted March 19, 2014 Captain Albert's blog still links back to the HAL site so it probably is still there. Just Captain Albert who is not back yet.

arzz Posted March 20, 2014 #15 Share Posted March 20, 2014 I suspect when he returns and the blog becomes active again it will pop back near the top and be featured. His blog is just too good not to be featured when he is sailing.
Rare TiogaCruiser Posted March 20, 2014 #16 Share Posted March 20, 2014 See post no. 4 above by Spamwiches.. Spam disembarked march 16. It's not known if there was also a handover for the departure that day also, which still leaves us at the question as to who is Master now. :)

KNOT2L82SAIL Posted March 20, 2014 #19 Share Posted March 20, 2014 Good news.... Captain Albert has posted to his blog today. Bad news.... not going to be just on one ship. But it should be interesting with all the differences he will see. http://www.hollandamericablog.com/albert/

luvteaching Posted March 21, 2014 #23 Share Posted March 21, 2014 Captain Mercer, on the Amsterdam World Cruise at the moment, does a blog and it's great! http://captainjonathan.com/january-4th-5th-2/?WT.mc_id=SM_HAB_JM On the left-hand side you can click on the date you want to read.
