waterbabe40 Posted March 23, 2014 #26 Share Posted March 23, 2014 My husband requests a cigar bar on every RCCL survey he completes and the end of the cruise. Yes, he cruises on ships without a cigar bar but really enjoys an after dinner cigar and brandy and takes advantage of it on the ships with an INDOOR area. The Oasis class cigar areas are useless. I hope Quantum does indeed have the cigar bar it is rumored to have.

north29 Posted March 23, 2014 #28 Share Posted March 23, 2014 As and ex smoker, and cigar lover, WHY would they waste the space for a cigar lounge??????? Having said that, I would love to try a good cuban again, but but, I no longer want to smell of smoke, and what ever I can do to, perhaps, extend my health, I will do it. Maybe RC should, I doubt that they will, follow CVS's lead and stop selling tobacco products. By the way good luck, if they do add a Cigar lounge that will be fine with me. penlee31 Posted March 23, 2014 #29 Share Posted March 23, 2014 This not a difficult question. There are not enough smokers to justify a dedicated area. If they add a dedicated lounge, RCL can make a bigger profit when the lounge is designed for the vast majority of the passengers. If smoking is that important to you, select a different cruise line. no need to select a different cruise line. just smoke in the casino, there's obviously not enough smokers to justify smoking there being an issue. unlike the jam packed library 24 hrs a day to warrant that room and the profit they must make from it being free. I'm not a cig smoker but I think your logic is a little off, IMHO. There are certainly more smokers than let's say library users. The reason, I believe, they aren't currently converting underused space is $$. It costs nothing to continue to have open space, even if it's underutilized. It does cost $$ to convert and enclose open space to a smoking area. Walls and doors are the minor cost. The real cost is the ventilation system. IMHO reading these boards for the last few months before our cruise next week, RCI is not in the direction of adding costs to their bottom line but to reduce overhead and increase profits, many times to the detriment of their customers. MrsFops&FopsC5 Posted March 23, 2014 #31 Share Posted March 23, 2014 Does anyone know if they have a location on the Enchantment that a cigar smoker can partake? Heading out this weekend and DH loves to have one. thank you...
Folk Singer Posted March 23, 2014 #32 Share Posted March 23, 2014 Agreed, however being a smoker while i understand the reason for recent changes to the smoking policy i don't like the change at all. Now i am secluded to being able to smoke in only designated areas, which now no longer includes my own room balcony. However the cigar lounge i have always enjoyed on other ships, wish the would have them added on the new ships. Do not smoke a lot but do enjoy the occasional cigar. LetsGetWet! Posted March 23, 2014 #33 Share Posted March 23, 2014 Do not smoke a lot but do enjoy the occasional cigar. That's me - never smoked cigarettes and consider myself a "non-smoker", but the exception is probably 1-2 cigars a month max, I do enjoy them on occasion and a vacation cruise is a great occasion. Elvis1209 Posted March 24, 2014 Author #34 Share Posted March 24, 2014 FWIW, I am just off the Explorer and one of the junior officers told us they were going to have a cigar lounge on the Quantum. Deck 5 forward. It's just a rumor, but, at least it's a good one for the lovers of the leaf. I'll believe it when I see it! Elvis
Elvis1209 Posted March 24, 2014 Author #35 Share Posted March 24, 2014 I met a man I will call a good Cruise Friend in the cigar lounge on Freedom of the Seas. We were there every evening enjoying a good cigar, or two. I got to meet his darling wife Priscilla as well as he brother and other half. We correspond to this day. His name, you ask, ELVIS1209. HELLO, my friend. we're going on Explorer in September and Quantum on Jan. Hope you can join us. We can do some first hand research on Quantum. This year may be tight, but keep me informed! Maybe next year! How are Debbie and Peter? I look back to that cruise often! GO STEELERS! Elvis
alexgtp Posted March 24, 2014 #36 Share Posted March 24, 2014 I am a long life Cigar smoker. And I hate Cruise Ship Cigar Lounges! The one on the NCL Epic was a tiny nightmare. No ventilation what so ever and no bar. The one on the Freedom was so so . But no bar service. So far my favorite "Cigar Lounge" Has been the Sunset Bar on the Celebrity Eclipse, ridiculously amazing bar staff! (who would have our drink of the day and water bottles ready for use when we arrived) Great spots to sit (even in the rain) Good community of cigar smokers on the 14 day trip I took. And no smelling like an ashtray ! :D

erries Posted March 25, 2014 #38 Share Posted March 25, 2014 The Oasis class cigar areas are useless. Just out of curiosity, why do you say this? My husband had a great time smoking an after dinner cigar with a glass of wine on the Allure's "Cigars Under the Stars" area. And I was a big fan of letting him have his cigar without his clothes stinking up the room for the rest of the cruise. :D
leaveitallbehind Posted March 25, 2014 #39 Share Posted March 25, 2014 (edited) Does anyone know if they have a location on the Enchantment that a cigar smoker can partake? Heading out this weekend and DH loves to have one. thank you... If he is looking for an indoor venue, no. As mentioned previously only Voyager and Freedom class ships have a dedicated indoor cigar lounge - no Vision class ships offer that. The only place to smoke a cigar on Enchantment would be the designated outdoor smoking area on the pool deck. A good cigar bar is indoors with enough ventilation so you don't come out smelling like an ashtray. Despite some people's claims, they do exist. ;) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

mtu_huskies Posted March 26, 2014 #46 Share Posted March 26, 2014 I'm the occasional cigar smoker with friends and scotch during the summer. I don't know why it took me so long, but on my last cruise I finally made it to the cigar lounge on formal night on Adventure. What a great night. Relaxing area, great bar staff and it was nice and quiet. I definitely plan on visiting again on future cruises with cigar lounges!

You can't smoke sitting right at the bar. The smoking area is the seating adjacent to the bar port side aft.
Chicagocrooza Posted March 26, 2014 #50 Share Posted March 26, 2014 Ahhhhhh. The sunset bar which is probably one of the nicest bar (besides the molecular bar) on that class of ship. The sunset bar at night is probably the most relaxing area of the ship and it is rarely crowded. However it is outdoor and it will depend on weather and wind can be a factor.
