Bridge Clearance / Obstruction Issues?

Recommended Posts

That's three ports (thus far) that cannot handle the larger/mega ships in the remainder of the Carnival fleet; not a good prospect as it has been "suggested" that the Fantasy Class vessels will be phased out over the next several years.

What ship class?

Baltimore can only accommodate Spirit and Fantasy class ships due to the Key and Bay (Rt. 50) bridges. Per JH and the beards, in order to keep the cruises at 7 days, Baltimore requires Spirit class vessels due to the speed/time ratio from Baltimore to it's ports.

We are limited to HAL's Maasdam (55,000 tons) size ships coming to Montreal. Quebec city being further downstream

at the mouth of the St. Lawrence river can handle the big ships.

We are stuck with just the smallest. HAL's Eurodam which is about Fantasy class size is supposed to be able to make

it to Montreal after some power-line obstructions are raised.

Perhaps hope against hope we could even get a Spirit class ship although the port of Montreal's dock is a dirty hole.

I guess that needs to be fixed up as well.:o
