KPfromCT Posted April 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 17, 2014 What is the average time you go to bed at night, on your cruise? I am WIPED out by 9-10:eek::eek: My normal job, I am up at 5am, everyday, and in bed between 9-10. I cannot nap while on a cruise. Not sure why. I don't nap at home either. You are not old old is how old you are on your grave stone, I will never be old .. not having a grave stone unless they figure out how to make one float when they scatter me in the ocean :D Young and wrinkley forever
mom2mnem Posted April 17, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 17, 2014 Normally at home I am wiped out by 10-1030. So is DH --and that is after falling asleep in his recliner in front of the TV most of the night. When on vacation , with all the sun, ocean , rich food and activities we are wiped by 9-10 as well. on our first cruise last year we had all these plans--shows, Love and marriage, piano bar etc.... never made it! one night we both napped before dinner. Went back to the room with full intentions of catching a show at 11. Both of us fell asleep and didn't wake till the next day. I think we stayed awake til 10. we are both 47 Lisa

Two years ago, we got back on the ship, after spending the day at Margaritaville and Jack's Shack. DD and I said we were going to take a "nap". DH tried to wake us for dinner. Was not meant to be. Just accustom to a certain sleep pattern. If I'm ever in the bed before 11:30 you can best believe I'm sick. I'm up between 5:30 and 6:00 am during the week. Sleep later if I can on the weekends. On the ship, I'm up late even if I'm in my cabin. Always been a night owl. Not a morning person, but I am determined to see the sun rise at least once on my next cruise. I may catch a quick nap; especially after a long day in port.
vwrestler171 Posted April 17, 2014 #8 Share Posted April 17, 2014 I'm up at 3:30 M-F for work, but on a cruise I will stay up until 1-2 AM and then sleep in on sea days.
KPfromCT Posted April 17, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted April 17, 2014 I hate to admit that I am a morning person, but even on the weekends, I cannot sleep past 7. And that is late for me. Grrrrr:mad::mad: I read reviews on here about people closing down the dance clubs at 3-3:30 and I am thinking to myself.......OMG! I will be up in 3 hours:eek::eek: Guess it's just the internal clock, doin' it's thing.
lostdart1 Posted April 17, 2014 #10 Share Posted April 17, 2014 My favorite time on the ship can be about 6AM and going up on dock and watching the sun finish rising and watching getting closer to port. The decks are quit.... You are not missing much after 11:30Pm except people being and getting stupid.....
sjn911 Posted April 17, 2014 #11 Share Posted April 17, 2014 (edited) They say it is much healthier to be exactly like you are..night owls not as healthy..I can be such a late person and have late work... I just had a visit to may dad's winter abode and got on the up by 7:30 or 8 mode and fell asleep at 9 or 10...LOL..in my mom's recliner...which electrically helps you sit up...LOL..I liked it...did not need it but liked it and let me tell you..at these senior citizen retirement parks with plans..it was busy..great things were going on..but if you are not early for the strawberry shortcake breakfast..they are rolling it up..LOL.....Sarah..soon to be I can't drive 55!! Well in half a year..let's not rush it... Edited April 17, 2014 by sjn911

christyran1228 Posted April 17, 2014 #14 Share Posted April 17, 2014 I'm up at 5:00am M-F ... and rarely past 7-8 on the weekends. We go to bed at 11:00...maybe midnight on the weekends. On our (first and only) cruise we up until about midnight ... and slept until about 9ish. The much needed vacation and the motion of the ocean .... I never slept so good! We don't normally nap, and we squeezed a few of those in there, too. Lol I'm 42, DH is 36. :) Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

luvscruising2007 Posted April 17, 2014 #16 Share Posted April 17, 2014 I am over 60 and approaching 70. I take a nap everyday at home and on a cruise. Then I can stay up as late as I feel like. We have late dining, so I get a nap in before we had to the show. After dinner we are ready for anything. If I have too much to drink, that's only 2 or 3 drinks, I do feel sleepy but not tired. We are usually in bed by 1 on cruises unless we have an early port excursion.

Dayenu Posted April 17, 2014 #18 Share Posted April 17, 2014 Some people are early birds, some are night owls. It's only bad if you are a night owl, but your work starts early :(
Rare aussielozzie18 Posted April 17, 2014 #19 Share Posted April 17, 2014 I did the same - went to bed at 9.30pm every night - I'm in my forties. Usually, go to bed much later at home but I got tired on board. Must have been the good food that made me sleepy. Plan to stay up later on my next cruise. MommaBear55 Posted April 17, 2014 #21 Share Posted April 17, 2014 This thread makes me feel normal! DH and I have stayed up until midnight once on one cruise. Even our five 30 something kids (3 ours and two bonus in laws) are the same when they join us. Too much fun in the sun and too much to do the next day to stay up late. ducklite Posted April 17, 2014 #22 Share Posted April 17, 2014 (edited) The last cruise we were usually sleeping by 10:00, 11:00 at the latest. Many days I took a nap after returning to the ship before dinner. On the port intensive Med cruises, I was wiped out after dinner, even with the nap. On my next cruise I expect we'll be sleeping by 10:00 at the latest. I'm hoping to be on the deck practicing yoga at sunrise every morning, and on the days where the weather doesn't cooperate, I'll hit the gym for an hour. Our earliest tour or excursion seems to be at 9:00 am, so this should be very doable. :) I can honestly say that in the five cruises we've taken, only once did we stay up until the band stopped playing. We never went to a club on DCL or RCCL, and Only about half the time stopped for a quick night cap (often taking it to go) on Windstar. Krazy Kruizers Posted April 17, 2014 #23 Share Posted April 17, 2014 We are not night owls either. When we worked, we had to be up by 4:30 and usually went to bed between 9 and 10. After we retired, we still are up by 5, even on cruises. DH likes to be in the gym by 6 AM when we don't have a tour. Habits for some of us are hard to break. sparky-elpaso Posted April 17, 2014 #24 Share Posted April 17, 2014 Another retiree here who still naturally wakes up early - although DH sleeps in a bit later. I love to go out on deck for the sunrise, etc. If possible we'll take a short nap in the afternoon so we can go to a show after dinner.

I find that if I have an inside room that I can nap much better compared to when I have a balcony. Inside rooms are pitch black in the middle of the day and you don't here balcony doors opening and closing beside you. My faviorite time on the ship is from dinner time until about 1 and I just can't make it to 1 anymore if I don't get a nap in.
