tradogna Posted July 30, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2005 I have got so much good advice from this board, I was wondering if any one can answer this question. I have notice that my hair is getting thin in spots, I always had thick hair. Does anyone know of a product that will thicken or re grow the hair. Thanks. carol louise Posted July 30, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 30, 2005 Though I don't have experience with it, I have read that Rogaine is a product, the only one I believe, that is proven to work for some people, but it takes time. Have you considered making an appointment to see your doctor, or maybe a dermatologist, to rule out causes other than normal hereditary hair loss? pcur Posted July 30, 2005 #3 Share Posted July 30, 2005 They have rogaine for women now, but I agree: see a doc. It couled be a thyroid problem, too.
Andee Posted July 30, 2005 #4 Share Posted July 30, 2005 If you decide to use Rogaine, generic minoxidil, available at Walgreens, is cheaper.
Happy ks Posted July 31, 2005 #5 Share Posted July 31, 2005 I would see a doctor before using any product. Is it thin in spots, such as alopecia areata(sp), or general thinning? The causes can be stress, medication, menopause, childbirth, aging. There is some success with topical treatments, but you need to find out the cause before you can determine the cure. I had clients who lost a lot of hair within a year of childbirth, it always grew back. One had bald spots due to stress that were cured with (I think) steroid shots. Some women lose a lot of hair from years of overprocessing and unfortunately it was permanent. So, see a doctor to determine the cause, especially if it is a side effect of a different ailment.
