cw2go Posted May 2, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2014 We are sailing the Indy...departure is on a Saturday in FLL at 5:30am We always self disembark and are carry on only. Debating between 10am and 11:30am flights...cost difference is $160 total  What's your experience with the terminal/customs in this early hour and on a weekend? Thanks, Patty
kdawg954 Posted May 2, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 2, 2014 Wow that's an early dock time. Honestly, you'll be pretty bored if you try to rush off the ship. The airport is 15 minutes away. Weekends can be hectic because of the Oasis shuffle on Saturday but you won't have anything to worry about. Which ever time is cheaper, that is the one you take. You can leave the port at 8 a.m. and be fine.
JohninDC Posted May 2, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 2, 2014 Docking at 5:30 does not mean you can get off at 5:30 - that said, even if you do not get off until 7:30-7:45 you should still be able to cab to FLL and catch the 10:00 flight (if that is the cheap one). cw2go Posted May 2, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted May 2, 2014 Yes the 10 am is cheaper, I meant to say that... :o
eandj Posted May 2, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 2, 2014 You can make the 10:00 flight. Just head off the ship by 7:30-8:00.
Rare Keith1010 Posted May 2, 2014 #6 Share Posted May 2, 2014 Patty, I would go with 11:30 to play it safe. Some will say earlier. It all comes down to how much stress you can take. Keith
eandj Posted May 2, 2014 #7 Share Posted May 2, 2014 I normally agree with Keith that I don't like stress the night before. ;) But what made me think the 10:00 flight would work for you is that you mentioned you have carry on bags only and self disembarking is norm for you. Makes things much easier.
mollyanne Posted May 3, 2014 #8 Share Posted May 3, 2014 When is your cruise? I would not attempt this early flight if it is a day with 7 or 8 ships in port. If it's a light day and you self-disembark you should be OK.

CruiserBruce Posted May 3, 2014 #10 Share Posted May 3, 2014 Cruise is RCCL Indy....Feb 8-14 in FLL So, a Saturday morning, with Oasis or Allure in port, and probably at least 4 other ships besides yours. You might make it, but I wouldn't want the stress of that tight connection hanging over your expensive vacation.
