elena7seas Posted May 2, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2014 We will be on the Solstice for an 8-night cruise to Alaska, out of Vancouver and returning to Seattle. I am going to check on a few things for Cruise Critic posters while I am on board, so if you have any questions, I will add them to my list. I will post short answers from onboard as much as possible. The update to the Beverage List and Beverage Calculator will have to wait until I return home. On my list so far: Update Beverage List and Prices as fully as possible. Check status of VIP Lounge Update the Who's On Board List Check on the brand of tea in the Buffet and elsewhere Review the Elite Breakfast format Review the Elite Cocktail lounge Review the Elite Afternoon Tea Review the Captain's Club Celebration Check out what's happening with Zumba I will also see if I can find any local information on the planned changes for Cellar Masters on the Solstice, and the status of the Hot Glass Show, recognizing that this type of information is not much more than hearsay at this point. Whatever the plans are now, they may change (and likely will) before implementation. Keep your fingers crossed for us, for a sunny sailaway from Vancouver! We have a brand new cruiser with us, and his wife wants him to love cruising!

RBKL Posted May 3, 2014 #11 Share Posted May 3, 2014 Enjoy your cruise. We sailed the Solstice last year to Alaska and we're booked to go again in August. Would like to know if the brunch on the last sea day was really eliminated. Have a great cruise.
elena7seas Posted May 3, 2014 Author #12 Share Posted May 3, 2014 Please post some pictures of the tight fit under the Lions Gate Bridge:D I understand they have to somehow adjust/lower the funnel. Have a wonderful cruise! My husband has a good camera and is a pretty good photographer, so if we can get the timing right, we'll try to get some photos and video going under the Lions Gate Bridge. I was on the Solstice a few weeks after the alterations had been made. What I was told was they have made the mast retractable. I'll get as many details as I can when I'm on board. I'm so excited to be sailing on the Solstice to Alaska. I have been there once on the Mercury (Aug. 2013), and once on the Century (July 2013). flifish64 Posted May 3, 2014 #14 Share Posted May 3, 2014 If you or someone you know is going fishing in Ketchikan let us know if the fish are biting. I have conflicting reports. Some charters are booking and some are saying don't bother as the fish are not biting. I would like to know if I should continue to look for someone to take us out. Thanks, Carol
elena7seas Posted May 3, 2014 Author #15 Share Posted May 3, 2014 Hi Eileen! Sounds like you have a long to do list. When are you going to relax and enjoy your cruise??? Bon Voyage! Thanks for the good wishes, Linda. I like to keep busy on a cruise. I'm kind of project-focussed :p. I am taking a big book with me though, so there will be some competition for my time. My dad used to say, "You can relax when you're dead". I also sleep less than most people, so I have more hours in my day. ;)

This will be our first cruise to Alaska at the end of May; would love to know how many choose the outdoor/indoor pool. Thank you! redhead525 Posted May 4, 2014 #24 Share Posted May 4, 2014 We have heard that there have been some significant cuts in the Activity Staff and changes in the activities aboard. Specifically, we have heard they are reducing the number of Trivia games and that there are fewer lectures (I mean the real kind in Celebrity Central or sometimes in the Theater but not the shore excursion or shopping ones). If you could give an update on that, would be most appreciated. Have a wonderful cruise!
lwall8 Posted May 4, 2014 #25 Share Posted May 4, 2014 I'm envious. My cruise on the Solstice is 47 days away and I cannot wait! It sounds like you will have some really nice weather. Have a wonderful time.
