Are you saying that a passport would not work?

No, I was responding to the question:

We never take a BC. Doesn't she have a passport?

OR

can you use a BC instead of a passport on some itineraries? I guess I thought you had to have a passport to travel anywhere but Canada and Mexico.

Good luck - hope some of the ideas from others help you out.

Personally, I have a passport. I think it's the way to go. But, in some cases, a passport is not required.

As has been mentioned, when you get the passport, designate a place where it is always stored at your house. I have a specific place and my passport is always there, unless I have put it in my purse to take on the trip. As soon as I return home, even if very late at night, the first thing I do is put the passport back where it belongs. I have moved multiple times and all important paperwork / documents go in one box, which is very clearly labeled. This box is left in a very obvious place until I have time to unpack and put everything where it belongs.

Glad you found the BC. Enjoy your cruise.

I was once told the refrigerator freezer was a great place to store documents, double bagged/etc because even in a house fire, its rare from them to completely be destroyed.

Of course my documents are scattered throughout my house - I really need to get control of that....at least I know - today - where my BC is....no passport yet. Just call me procrastinator of the year.

:) Indeed.

That is why I added 'find a safe place to store them'.

So glad that you found the documents that you need. We have passports and make sure they are locked in a safe when they are not in use for travel. Our small fireproof safe also is home to our other important papers. It is the ONLY chance I have to find anything at home!! Nice investment for a little peace of mind.

I agree that a safe is a good investment. Ours is permanently installed into the house, fire and water proof, and all items such as birth certificates, passports, car titles, deeds, insurance policies, good jewelry not worn regularly, etc. are stored in there.
