PBNJ620 Posted May 4, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2014 For those of you who have been lucky enough to sail in the Royal Suite, how was the boarding experience? I had sailed in the Royal Suite on Freedom for my 50th birthday and it was awesome ! The Concierge came down to the terminal and walked us onto the ship . No lines at all!!!! Didn't wait for a minute! Now my sister booked the Royal Suite on Independence and surprised me by asking ME to go with her!!! So excited. Just wondering if it will be the same type of experience as on Freedom.
tiger13 Posted May 4, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 4, 2014 My sister and I were in the presidential suite on INDY in January and indeed Raj the concierge came down and escorted us onto the ship promptly. no waiting and since rooms were not open yet he actually took our carryons and dropped them at the room for us while we explored the ship and had lunch. Raj was wonderful all week. We are pretty self sufficient, we don't need much and we don't drink so we rarely needed to call him or see him. However, he was genuinely upset the one time we bypassed him and called guest services about a problem in the cabin. He made it very clear from that point on we were to call him for ANYthing, no matter how big or small. While we certainly did not take up his time I can tell you he was working nonstop. Seems his personal phone was ringing nonstop with requests from other suite guests. He was exceptional from start to finish
SHICHIDAN Posted May 4, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 4, 2014 We have done the RS on all RCL ships that have them. We have experienced the full escort plus ships tour every time. Guests sailing with us in other cabins have boarded with us and enjoyed the tour prior to others boarding. Some rag on why we would take a tour we have seen before and that is understandable but I see it as part of the RS experience and new folks traveling with us get a great kick out of it. Some have said that the concierge or ships officer that escorted them did not offer to show the ship to them so I would mention it to your escort if they dont do it automatically. Enjoy, I know you will.
Spurschick Posted May 4, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 4, 2014 Quick question if anyone can help. We have RS booked on Jewel. When we check in do they automatically contact concierge to assist us onboard or do we need to arrange with concierge prior to arrival? When we had RS on Sovereign we were not offered anything. If you are sailing when Diego is there, the check in team will radio him to let him know you have arrived. He will escort you onto the ship. Side note - Raj is awesome too !!! Jetdriver787 Posted May 5, 2014 #7 Share Posted May 5, 2014 First time from Southampton there was nothing special just the usual check-in. Second time from Fort Lauderdale Raj came down and escorted us on-board and straight to the suite. As a concierge he is excellent. I have watched him field a lot of pressure and deal with it as a complete professional. He is completely aware of what is going on around him and is excellent at time management and heading off potential problems. Personally I found him a complete gentleman who went out of his way to ensure our journeys were fabulous and unforgettable events. The suite is fantastic, the only trouble is that you don't really want to leave it!

How were you able to book it? It must have been a incredible experience. Shirley, Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
