Plant Posted May 9, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 9, 2014 I was under the impression that Sea Princess (even in OZ) used 110 V outlet's. I could be wrong ! Can anyone clarify this for me? I've bought the adapter for our week in Sydney, but didn't think we'd have to "adapt" on the New Zealand cruise on Sea Princess. Thanks for any help you can give me, Fern
Aus Traveller Posted May 9, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 9, 2014 Power to passenger cabins is 240 volt 60 cycles and the sockets are Australian. No adapters or transformers are required. :)
Fletch1 Posted May 9, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 9, 2014 (edited) If it is wired the same as the Dawn and the Sun, there should also be an American point in each cabin. The TV's are plugged into an American point, but from memory, there is also an American plug on the desk. The Australian point is situated in the cavity above the fridge in most cabins. Cruise_me_Crazy Posted May 10, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 10, 2014 We used standard Aussie plugs on Sea Prinny in Dec 2013. Brought a power board with surge protector an loaded up the burs n bobs each afternoon!
Plant Posted May 11, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted May 11, 2014 We used standard Aussie plugs on Sea Prinny in Dec 2013. Brought a power board with surge protector an loaded up the burs n bobs each afternoon! Thanks, CMC! We're coming from the U.S. so we won't have "Aussie plugs" with us, unless we buy them before we cruise. That's what I'm trying to figure out :). Should we buy an "Aussie" power strip that will work in Sydney, Brisbane, and on the ship, or should we buy adapter's that will convert our 110Volts to 220/240 Volts? I'm familiar with "British" English, but not "Aussie English" :(, so can you define "burs n bobs" for me :)? I appreciate any help anyone can give us! No amount of Aussie accent either verbal or typed on screen will make sense for you! So sorry. :o Should have read "bibs n bobs" which means bits n pieces such as the e gadgets that need charging. iPad, 2x phones, iPod, camera batteries x2 etc! Also we were not looking for US power points so they may be there & we missed them! I had that much cheap glitzy Chrissy decorations strewn about, I have no doubt there could have been multiple features we missed / were hidden! :D
Cruise_me_Crazy Posted May 11, 2014 #7 Share Posted May 11, 2014 Oh and I also think your question will depend on how much you need to charge. For us 1x adapter will not be enough. We will need multiple things charging over night! Power boards are cheap as chips here.
Seadog & Sea Hag Posted June 21, 2014 #8 Share Posted June 21, 2014 There is generally only one Australian power outlet in the stateroom so take a power board. I also throw in a short ext lead as they are never in good locations
tickford Posted June 22, 2014 #9 Share Posted June 22, 2014 I didn't check right around the cabin but above the desk there was an 1 american and one Australian power point right smack bang next to each other. I didn't need to charge much so didn't go looking for more.
Plant Posted June 23, 2014 Author #10 Share Posted June 23, 2014 Thanks everyone! I think we'll just buy a couple of 220/240 V adapter's. If that doesn't work we'll just do without our electronics  until we can charge them on the ship using the 110 option. Y'all are so helpful, I'm sure we're going to have a great week in Sydney and Brisbane between cruise's :)!
