ralferr Posted May 10, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 10, 2014 First time on the Solstice and to Alaska. Weather forecasts for the week of May 16th seem to be pretty mild. Are thermals necessary? The don't seem to be. Any info about packing would be greatly appreciated. Seems to be more involved than cruising the Caribbean. :) Thanks
dblane Posted May 10, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 10, 2014 We cruised the first week in June two years ago. Had warm, sunny weather which was not the usual. If you are doing Tracy Arm Fjord you will need warm clothing that day. They were selling hot chocolate with a shot of Baileys on deck, so good!! I brought rain gear but we didn't use it. reefisher Posted May 10, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 10, 2014 We've sailed Alaska several times in all kinds of weather. Here is what I bring. A very light weight, packable waterproof parka, light weight rain pants, sweater that will double for dinner, zip up fleece, watch cap and gloves for the glacier and waterproof hiking boots.
