Carnival Freedom Terminal

I'm wondering if somebody can tell me a little about the terminal for the Carnival Freedom. What I'm trying to find out - is there much of an incline to have to walk up to get on the ship.? My DH has some mobility issues and for the Pride last year - we used a wheelchair to get up their steep ramp. For the Freedom, I'm wondering if it's the same - or do we actually get to the higher level to embark by going up escalators, etc.? Any insight you can give me would be appreciated.

We traveled with a friend in March on the Freedom. He has mobility issues and we were impressed at the aid he was offered. There is an escalator in the terminal and once off that he was escorted around the line. On debarkation day the same thing happened. He was taken straight to the front of the Customs line and they even took us as we were traveling together. For the safety drill we were taken to a dining room instead of our regular station. It was nice for him to be able to sit thru the drill. Staff also helped him carry his tray at the Lido buffet. As I said, we were very impressed at the helpfulness of everyone we encountered.

We will probably rent a wheelchair - he needs it especially by evening. But if we don't have to wait for a wheelchair to get up the ramp, we would prefer to walk on. We had the FTTF on the Pride, but we had to wait so long for the wheelchair, that lots of folks were on before we were. Kind of defeated the FTTF. We're just hoping there is not a really steep ramp to climb during embarkation.

I just got off the Freedom yesterday. The ramp for embarkation is VERY steep. I'm in good shape, and I was huffing by the time I drug my carry-on up to the top of it.

Ditto. Its not horrible and over quickly. However, I can see if someone has physical limitations they may need assistance.

When we went on the Freedom in 2013, we had FTTF. We were called right after the handicapped. There were several people in wheelchairs directly in front of us. Each one was being pushed by a Carnival employee. And, the ramp was steep to the point that they would put the brakes on the wheelchair when they had to stop to wait.
