celly Posted May 23, 2014 #26 Share Posted May 23, 2014 Good points! Both are relatively small touches but to me, make a difference. We feel the same! Other small touches that we like are the chocolate on the pillows, the toiletries, better TV channels and choices, smoke free casino, and the daily newspapers in different languages. Royal does not provide the daily newspapers anymore and we miss those very much, especially on the transatlantics with limited news channels on the tv. We love both cruiselines but on X we prefer the Solstice class ships.
sjb317 Posted May 23, 2014 #27 Share Posted May 23, 2014 We've been on 34 Royal cruises and 1 Celebrity which certainly does not make me an expert but I was a little disappointed in our Celebrity cruise. Don't get me wrong, it was a great cruise but it just did not live up to the hype that I've heard for years saying Celebrity is a step up over Royal. IMO, the two lines are very similar when it comes to entertainment, food and service. We would like to try another ship on Celebrity (bought a future cruise certificate so we have too!) but so far, have not found anything that we want to do. Royal just seems like a better fit for us, not for the bells and whistles, but just the general atmosphere. I have to admit, we seemed to run into more "complainers" on Celebrity than Royal!:D Sherri:)
