OBC use to pay Gratuities?

Recommended Posts

I am about to book a cruise. I think the answer is yes, but I wanted to make sure. I am looking at two travel sites for the same cruise. Both offering two different deals.

Can I use my OBC to pay gratuities? One of the travel site is offering only OBC and the amount is a lot.

One of the travel agents I'm looking at gives me an option between OBC OR free gratuities, can I still use the OBC for gratuities?

Doing the math out, I think gratuities is $12/day.. and it seems that the OBC is more. So a 7 day cruise is (12/day*7 days*2 people)=$168 vs $200 OBC. I think it is wiser to take the OBC..

Yes you can use your OBC to pay gratuities as long as you are not pre paying gratuities I.e. MTD as those have to be paid at final payment.

Yes--this is true unless you book a suite. Then the math would work out in your favor. . . . and as previously mentioned this would not work with MTD.

So what is MTD?

We're (boyfriend and I) poor graduate students.. we wish we can do a suite.. but looks like we are getting an interior room for this cruise..
