kellbellscruise Posted May 31, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 31, 2014 ]Hello everyone... Just back from 5 day Sunshine sailing and wanted to share. Boarding was fast and painless. We arrived about 11 and wee walking on by 11.30. We had balc room 7111. 2 doors down from the secret deck. There was no fridge or nightstands but a very comfy bed and fantastic water pressure. Also a small sofa and table.. We did not miss the nightstands or fridge. We were a party of 11 and had MTD. We ate in the dining room the first 2 nights but it was a long wait, I imagine due to the size of our party. The rest of the nights we grazed here and there. I am not a burger fan... But Guys was a great burger. I love the pizza. The coffee was very good but I use cream and sugar... So those who like it black may have a different opinion. The casino was pretty big.. Lots of penny slots, which you can really rack up the points on 3 and 4 dollar max bets. When you reach 1500 points drinks are on the house as long as you are playing in the casino. My daughter, 23, was injured on the slide. She said she went from 2mph to what felt like 100mph, it may have been the pitch or lean in the ship from a wave- anyhow, she hit the wall at the end and twisted her ankle pretty good. It swelled right away but she could walk, so we went to the infirmary. Honestly, I just thought someone could take a look, and we needed a bandaid as there was a small cut... But we were told it would be $1.50 for a bandaid and anti bacterial cream. The nurse didn't even look over the counter at her ankle. My point to this is that I thought it weird that I could go downstairs and eat like 15 desserts and 20 burgers but they will charge for a bandaid. And again.. Nothing to do with price.. Just odd that thee was a charge for something so small. As we were walking out a young lady came in for check up and she had a black eye.. I mean boxing ring looking black eye from the slide. I really think it had to do with the movement of the ship at just the right time. No harm and no foul. My daughter was able to continue the cruise with a smile on her face. The serenity area was my favorite place. 2 nd level.... Shaded spot. Played a few really good concerts on the big screen during the day. I never left the ship and enjoyed my days at Serenity. I will say this though.. The doors to the serenity rooms leading to the outside were constantly slamming... They closed hard and most people would just come barreling out the door and let it slam. I hope it wasn't bothering anyone in those rooms close to the exit. On deck 7 I did see a few buckets and there was a leak a few doors down that they had to take care of... But it did not effect our cruise at all. I did smell "that smell" a few times.. But I was suspicious that it was someone in our group-ahem. Aside from the casino, my fav night was watching gravity on the big screen, eating free popcorn and watching the lightening from a storm cloud in the distance. The pool was lit up and people were swimming and laughing till late in the evening. All 11 of us enjoyed our cruise and would book again. I will post a few pics later. Thanks for reading. mosaic_mom Posted May 31, 2014 #6 Share Posted May 31, 2014 What itinerary did you travel? We are doing the 5 day in December to Nassau and Grand Turk. If you did this, do you have Fun Times you can post?
kellbellscruise Posted May 31, 2014 Author #7 Share Posted May 31, 2014 We did Key West, Nassau and Freeport. Did not keep the fun times, but the list was long for daily activities. I did see the younger 5 to 7 ish age, camp carnival kids group in the Buffett area... They were always giggling and laughing and seemed to be having a fun time.. I am putting that out there for people traveling with the kids. Looks like they were well taken care of.

Kristi Williamson Posted June 1, 2014 #9 Share Posted June 1, 2014 (edited) We are going in September. What's the secret deck? Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app Deck 7...go all the way forward. (past all the staterooms) You'll see a door that is not a stateroom and it leads outside to the "secret deck". I think there's one on Deck 6, too. These are GREAT during sail away. Too windy for me when we're moving on the ocean. Dazzies Posted June 4, 2014 #11 Share Posted June 4, 2014 I wonder if we were on the same sailing - May 25? My husband said he saw a woman come flying against the end wall in one of those slides. Crazy that they didn't check her out more thoroughly! This was our first Carnival experience and we loved the ship! We were deck 10, which was very convenient for the lido deck, Serenity, and the kids' clubs. We want to go back! sjcruiser Posted June 5, 2014 #12 Share Posted June 5, 2014 Thanks for posting a review of the ship. We'll be onboard in a little over two months, and I'm trying to read most of the reviews between now and then. Thanks again!!!

Too windy for me when we're moving on the ocean. I'm confused...if these are secret decks, how do people know about them enough to give directions to locate them? If you book a forward cabin, are you given a specially coded map or something, in secret of course,so you can find these decks? Are these decks also listed on sips that have them's deck plans, or are they hidden on those plans cause of how secret they are?
