In Barbados, although I have never taken the catermaran but know people who have. Calabasas with Gina is the way to go, delicious lunch, swim with turtles, etc. I understand that Gina does a great snorkeling adventure on the catermaran. :D

erniesband Posted June 18, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2014 (edited) We'll be doing a B2B in January on Jewel and have done 18 Southern cruises from San Juan. Here's some things we've done over the years and would recommend. None of these are excursions booked through the ship, all independent operators. Martinique – We did a taxi tour of the island, found an English speaking taxi driver right at the port. The cost was around $40pp.We went to a Rum factory, stopped at the church everyone goes to, traveled through the rainforest and saw Mt Pele. Tortola - a trip to the Baths, we did it on our own with Speedy's Ferry. St Martin - shoppers paradise Front Street in Phillipsburg Orient Beach to people watch. Maho Beach to watch the planes come in. Bernard's Tour comes highly recommended St Kitts - highly recommend a tour by Thenford Grey hits all the highlights www dot thenfordgrey dot com If you're looking for something different try Javin's Tour myislandstours.shutterfly.com He takes you to Black Rock, hiking in the rainforest, snorkeling at a wreck, and the beach. Barbados - most popular thing is swimming with the turtles, go with Calabaza - http://www.calabazasailingcruises.com or Silvermoon - silvermoonbarbados.com If you like chocolate there's a small factory that gives tours http://www.agapey.com For history Glory Tours has some interesting tours. And don't forget to give yourself some time to explore San Juan. Come in a few days early, see Old San Juan, the forts and El Yunque. tidygirl Posted June 18, 2014 #6 Share Posted June 18, 2014 We did the Jewell in Apr. in Tortola we loved the Baths (in fact so much we are booked next April and taking our adult kids back!) Barbados- Did the 4x4 beach safari and the cave (DH thought the cave was boring) when we go back may just do the 4X4 booked on our own for a tour of the island So there's a lot of options just depends what kind of activities you like. MIcruiser99 Posted June 19, 2014 #7 Share Posted June 19, 2014 Martinique – We did a taxi tour of the island, found an English speaking taxi driver right at the port. The cost was around $40pp.We went to a Rum factory, stopped at the church everyone goes to, traveled through the rainforest and saw Mt Pele. We have not been to Martinique but this is what we were planning on doing, also! Tortola - a trip to the Baths, we did it on our own with Speedy's Ferry. We did this, and loved it. St Martin -Bernard's Tour comes highly recommended We used Bernard, and enjoyed sightseeing all over the island. St Kitts - We did the zipline here. We didn't feel like we wanted to spend the time in a train on such a beautiful island. Barbados - Beautiful beaches, so we usually spend out time there. I did see some good reviews of the chocolate factory so we might try that this trip. We don't usually do the ship's excursions, either.

OTownNick Posted June 19, 2014 #10 Share Posted June 19, 2014 (edited) Tortola I recommend Patouche Tour.. Snorkeling stops and the Baths, but to me, the highlight was visiting Cooper Island where we ate lunch. Absolutely beautiful. Captain Alan's in St Maarten. Take the semi-private 6-hr tour. Amazing time. We did it twice and would do it again. Barbados- best tour we ever took EVER was the Goodtimes Charter. I don't think it can get any better than this tour. They limit the number to 15 and it's a huge 4 BR, 2BA catamaran. They include transportation to/from, a full premium bar all day, and a delicious home made lunch on board, including flying fish. St Kitts- Thenford Grey is awesome. Martinique- we did a tour through RCL to rum distillery and st Pierre. Very nice.
