The Jones Act-pro and con

While its the PVSA that does the same for the cruise industry as the Jones Act does for the merchant fleet, this is an interesting discussion.

 

CLIA(the cruise industry trade group) takes no position on the repeal of the PVSA. They know I think that if it was to be repealed, the cost would mean more regulation of the non-US flagged vessels on employment and other issues(like taxing them)...see http://www.cruising.org/regulatory/cruise-industry-policies/industry-practices/passenger-services-act-practice
