Officer Dibble Posted July 2, 2014 #26 Share Posted July 2, 2014 Hi Love the BOF! Great place to eat on embarkation day but it does get busy very quickly so eat early. Excellent value at $7. OD
CathyCruises Posted July 2, 2014 #27 Share Posted July 2, 2014 Hi, I was just wondering if the $5 charge is for a whole day or just 1 visit? Is it worth the $5? Thanks! I don't know, I don't think I've ever heard of a restaurant where you can pay once and go back as many times as you want all day long!
ILgirl Posted July 2, 2014 #28 Share Posted July 2, 2014 I hope the new menu does go fleet wide but I have always enjoyed the experience as well as the food. I very rarely have crepes - rather soup and a salad and a nice glass of wine. It is so serene there, a nice place to enjoy lunch out of the hustle and bustle of the buffet. Maybe even linger for that second glass of wine!
kevinyork Posted July 2, 2014 #29 Share Posted July 2, 2014 Feel a bit miffed now. We were on Eclipse in May but with the old menu at the higher $7 price. The summit menu is vastly improved and much better value for money. They did need to do something to attract people in the evenings as there was tumbleweed passing through BO5 after lunchtime on our cruise, Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
TheBeeSea Posted July 2, 2014 #30 Share Posted July 2, 2014 Can someone clarify? Its $7 for Bo5 on all ships ? Also is the new menu only on Summit or is it available on all the fleet? Also what do you get for your money? Is it unlimited or a starter main dessert option. e.g. if I wanted 3 crepes and a pannini could I get it (I know I would explode after eating that but just as an example). Also does the classic beverage package cover anything in Bo5?
Rare cruisestitch Posted July 2, 2014 #31 Share Posted July 2, 2014 The cost is the same on all ships. Only Summit has the new menu. You can certainly order 3 crepes and a panino and a salad and a dessert, but you would be spending a large amount of money in the medical center later. Beverage package applies there. shoreham01 Posted July 2, 2014 #32 Share Posted July 2, 2014 Our opinion is that it is great for embarcation day as there is plenty of room to stack your bags and it is never over crowded. As for the food, well, for us it is not up to much, especially as the price has gone up now to $7 each. We certainly would not think to go in there at any other time on the cruise. Quite honestly, we would probably not bother to go in any of the speciality restaurants anymore. This year we tried Qsine and Tuscan Grill and were not that enthusiastic about the quality of the food. We expected far more theatre from Qsine, maybe we ordered wrong items, and Tuscan was lovely for sailing out of Stockholm, but the food was just 'ok'. Quality of meat seems to have deteriorated considerably.
Hollywood Traveler Posted July 3, 2014 #33 Share Posted July 3, 2014 I think this should be the new menu. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=43101899&highlight=bistro#post43101899 Thanks for the link, Bighairtexan. The new menu looks good. Hope they make it fleet-wide soon.
daisymay1960 Posted July 4, 2014 #34 Share Posted July 4, 2014 Everyone seems to rant & rave about the Bistro, but every time I walk past it, there doesn't seem to be anyone in there. I'm not a big fan. Besides, if I want craps, I'll go to Paris. Is the food that bad ! you may need to be english to understand what i mean;)
iancal Posted July 4, 2014 #35 Share Posted July 4, 2014 We very much like Bistro on Five for dinner. Makes a change. Have been there several times on formal evenings since we seldom bother with the MDR on those nights. It is never crowded, service is very good, and it make change from the usual fare. DaKa2002 Posted July 4, 2014 #36 Share Posted July 4, 2014 In 4 cruises we have eaten there twice ($5 pp). Each time, a quiet place because few people were there! Food and choices were OK. Just got off the Constellation after 12 nights; only saw 2 people there in all our trips past the restaurant! Maybe that is why Celebrity is adding more to the menu. mferranti Posted July 4, 2014 #37 Share Posted July 4, 2014 We've had several breakfasts and lunches at the Bistro on our last few cruises, but only because the fees were waived with our Ultimate Specialty Dining packages.) I don't think it's worth paying extra for.

cl.klink Posted July 4, 2014 #39 Share Posted July 4, 2014 I do not mean to be contrary or snarky, just a question of logic: If B on 5 is good food and a good place, then why do almost all the posts that comment on the attendance there say that the place is almost always not crowded? What's "wrong" with going there? Don't people "vote" with their feet? - Joel
Rare Lois R Posted July 4, 2014 #40 Share Posted July 4, 2014 If I want craps I will hit the casino. For a crepe, Paris is too far away for me. I am in the group who enjoys Bistro on 5. Different strokes for different folks.

They attendance would be even worse if you eliminate staff who are allowed to eat there and those like me who didn't want to wait 30 - 40 minutes for a table in the MDR. I am sure the price increase will result in hordes of new diners.
awhfy Posted July 4, 2014 #42 Share Posted July 4, 2014 We've always enjoyed the food & the peace & quiet. Service appeared slow until we realized that each item was being made to order. Relax, have another glass of wine Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
SoBe2010 Posted July 5, 2014 #43 Share Posted July 5, 2014 The only fresh thing prepared is the crepe dough on the hot pan. This takes roughly 60 seconds till it's done. Never understood why it takes up to 45 minutes sometimes...
