Corkage Stickers-what benefit to staff?

I have read many times that the wait staff appreciates receiving the stickers from wine/champagne bottles on which we have paid a corkage fee.

Do they receive a percentage of the fee back?

Can we give the stickers to any staff member or only restaurant personnel?

Not sure if there is any benefit -- we had a bottle at dinner one night with about 1 glass left (barely) that we brought back to our stateroom, and the server in the restaurant left the sticker on it. I didn't see them removing any of the stickers from the full bottles that we fully consumed.

Hmmm...I keep reading of instances where the staff thanks cruisers for giving them the stickers.....

Any bottles we consume in our room I always give the sticker to our favorite bartender. They are always very appreciative.

 

We started doing this after a conversation with a bartender where they asked for it.

Our waiter in Moderno cut off our corckage fee sticker. He opened the bottle for us. I thought it weird, but did not ask him why he took it. Perhaps he turns it in and he gets the corckage fee.

I assumed they got an incentive? Our waiter in Cagneys asked us if he could take ours at dinner one night. We brought him 2 more the next day at lunch and he was very happy and thanked us.
