All Inclusive Drink Package Questions

I am very familiar with Celebrity's drink packages but this will be my first cruise back on Princess since they instituted them. I see the package is $49 per day plus tip and each drink has a $10 maximum.

 

1. If I purchase a $14 glass of wine, do I pay $14 or $4?

 

2. Can I purchase the package prior to sailing or do I purchase on the ship at one of the bars.

With grads the total is 56 and change per day. You can reserve ahead.

Your question about a glass of wine is a good one and I do not know the answer to that.

Your drink package only includes drinks to the value of $10 any more than that you will pay full price....that is my reading on the package

The package with gratuities is $56.35 per day.

 

If you purchase a $14 glass of wine, you will pay $14, full price. I don't think Princess has the ability to deduct...

Keep in mind that most Princess drink prices are quite a bit less than Celebrity's.

No. It will cost $14 plus 15% gratuity.

Given that they've figured out a way to deduct the pre-paid cost on an over-the-limit bottle of wine when using the wine package, you'd think they could do the same with the drinks package. It's not that the $10 limit isn't generous; it is. It just would have been even more generous to have made accommodation for the times someone might want to splash out and order an $11 or $12 glass of wine.
