Do you remember if anything on St Martin was open Christmas Day Thanks There is absolutely nothing open in St. Maarten on Christmas Day. There is some sort of law or something. Now a few things are open right there at the port, but that's it. Excursions and taxis will be running, though. We have been there on Christmas Day a couple of times. The last time there were 5 ships in port and the beaches were a nightmare! I hope there won't be that many ships in port when you are there. Good luck! maxs mom Posted August 5, 2014 Author #79 Share Posted August 5, 2014 Thursday ~ July 24, 2014 ~ Cozumel Weather was strange this morning. On one side of the ship, the sun was out and it was beautiful. The other side of the ship was dark and rainy. When I go to the CL this morning there was all kinds of lightening and thunder. Then the rain hit very hard. Then because of the sun on the starboard side.....we were treated to a beautiful rainbow.
maxs mom Posted August 5, 2014 Author #80 Share Posted August 5, 2014 Breakfast in the MDR was once again, very good. We ate with one other couple. Once again we docked at 10:00. Most of the other ships were already there. We pulled in alongside the Oasis. They looked like Mutt and Jeff! (Many of you will not know what that means!) Thank goodness the weather cleared up! So many people were getting off ahead of us....we would for sure be at the end of a long taxi line!
maxs mom Posted August 5, 2014 Author #81 Share Posted August 5, 2014 Yep! We were at the end of a long taxi line all right, but it finally moved and we got a taxi out to one of our old favorites....Nachi Cocom. Nachi is an all inclusive beach that we have been going to for years. We book this through Island Marketing as well. They only allow 100 people in each day, so it is never very crowded. Unfortunately we were one of the last people to get there today....it was after 11:00 when we got out there. But that was still OK....We got a nice spot on the beach and our favorite waiter there.....Carlos. We just love it here. That's why we keep coming back. And today is a very beautiful day. But it is HOT!! We had to keep taking a dip in the ocean and the pool.

Canadian Tyler Posted August 5, 2014 #83 Share Posted August 5, 2014 (edited) Your pictures brought back great memories of Fantasy Island in February. Did you get a chance to check out the beautiful views on the left side of the beach (left if you're facing the water) just past the deck area? It was too rocky to sit over there but breathtaking views. Did you see the monkeys? They were a hit when we were there. There's also an area out front by where the van parks that has tons of iguanas and peacocks. Something to check of next time if you didn't see them this time. Sounds like your driver was a little better than ours was. The front desk staff had to wake her up to take us back at our designated time. Island time I guess. maxs mom Posted August 5, 2014 Author #84 Share Posted August 5, 2014 I thought I would try something different this time. The last time we were here I drank Mexican beer all day. Well.....that made me so stupid and I was groggy for the rest of the day and all through the evening. Today I started with a Bloody Mary....very spicy....but there was not much vodka in it. I think most of their mixed drinks are a little light on the alcohol......but that's fine with me. You can certainly request more if you want. Then for lunch I had a glass of wine. And in the afternoon I had a Dirty Monkey....again with not much alcohol......so I felt better than usual when we left today. Lunch was good. They will bring it right to your chair or you can go up to their restaurant if you like sitting in tables and chairs. We're too lazy to do that, so they bring it to us. There are lots of things on the menu. Like I said......it was HOT, so it felt good to take a dip in the pool every now and then.

Aeryn Posted August 5, 2014 #86 Share Posted August 5, 2014 So kind of you to give us this great review! We are booked midship JS in January. Was the second JS as nice as your first (other than the balcony of course).?
smeck Posted August 5, 2014 #87 Share Posted August 5, 2014 Jane, always a great day when I see one of your reviews. A little off topic have you ever done a cruise to Hawaii?
maxs mom Posted August 5, 2014 Author #88 Share Posted August 5, 2014 The sand was so hot it reminded me of the Movie "10"!! Before we were ready to leave, we went up to the restaurant area to try out their Wi-Fi. You can get it for $5 for all day. All we could get it to do was spin and spin, so we got our money back. Carlos called a taxi for us at around 3 o'clock and we went back to the ship after another wonderful beach day!! We will come back here again and again! Was the second JS as nice as your first (other than the balcony of course).? Oh yes....all the JS's are the same.....it was just the balcony that was different. Where exactly mid-ship are you? I hate to break it to you, but if you are under the pool deck or Solarium.....there will be quite a bit of noise from up above all day long and sometimes into the night. Carts and stuff rolling overhead, plus chair scraping and people running. Not much they can do about it. We learned that the hard way our last time on Vision. We got some future cruise credit because of it. So if you are in that situation.....be sure and bring it to the attention of Guest Services. The cabins that are aft are under the Spa and it is very quiet back there.

Aeryn Posted August 5, 2014 #92 Share Posted August 5, 2014 Jane, we are 8056 and 8057. We have heard about the noise, but I am not overly concerned, as my husband sleeps like a log and I don't sleep well regardless. I will however complain if the noise is never ending. Thanks. Was the second JS as nice as your first (other than the balcony of course).? All Vision Suites (JS/GS/FS/OS/RS) were completely re-done with the October 2013 revitalization. The standard cabins had new bathroom floors and were touched up.

You might be OK in those cabins. I think we had similar cabins on Grandeur once and I don't remember any noise there. I hope you will be OK. maxs mom Posted August 5, 2014 Author #95 Share Posted August 5, 2014 We got back to the ship in a timely manner. But had a short time for some R & R. We were dragging just a little this evening and got to the CL just a little later than usual. Beautiful sky this evening.
maxs mom Posted August 5, 2014 Author #96 Share Posted August 5, 2014 We were able to visit with the new friends that we met on board this cruise. Mario came in tonight to say hello! We were tired, so we just went to the Windjammer for dinner tonight. We were joined by our new friends, Bill and Nancy. They were going to be on board next cruise as well. We enjoyed getting to know them. We enjoyed another quiet dinner in the WJ this evening. I ate Mexican.....fajitas and tacos. Quite good. And there was bread pudding for dessert. I love bread pudding!! Lovely! Salud!! We cruised through the casino after dinner so I could deposit the rest of my gambling allotment for this cruise! It didn't take long! These machines don't allow for any enjoyment whatsoever for the player!!..Oh well......we'll try again next cruise. Back in the cabin......we had, I believe, the smallest towel animal waiting on us that we have ever had! Clocks needed to be moved forward one hour tonight. Promisekeeper Posted August 5, 2014 #97 Share Posted August 5, 2014 We were on the first leg of your B2B and saw you most nights in the Concierge Lounge. While we weren't on the corner, we loved our cabin on the aft, 8090. Can't beat those aft cabins! We really enjoyed our time on the Vision and are booked on her again in January. Thanks for the review! It is like going on the cruise all over again! Hope to run into you again on another cruise.

You would usually leave for dinner, I think, not long after we got in there. We will most certainly have to meet up on another cruise one day. Glad you enjoyed the cruise, too. Ardie12 Posted August 5, 2014 #99 Share Posted August 5, 2014 Yes....it was hard giving up that balcony for the second cruise! We had to move three cabins away. It wasn't too bad' date=' but I sure missed that balcony.[/size'] Love your review. We're going on the Vision in Nov and it sounds like our cup of tea. We are experts at relaxing also. And we have the cabin just beneath yours, not a suite, but it has the nice balcony.
