ryano Posted August 8, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2014 (edited) Thought this was interesting. I know Allure and Oasis are a very light baby blue (lighter than this) from a certain point on down to the water. Like it? Hate it? Who cares? FLACRUISER99 Posted August 8, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 8, 2014 Looks a bit darker then Oasis/Allure. However it may be just the lighting. Sent from my iPad using Forums
jencol28 Posted August 8, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 8, 2014 This looks incredible. My dad used to work in a dry dock and he has a few photos of him beneath the QE2 back when it had a refit in Southampton....what must be 20 years ago at least - The sheer scale of these ships has always amazed me! setsail Posted August 8, 2014 #8 Share Posted August 8, 2014 Like the blue But, how do you know that this is not just the primer
Tyler80 Posted August 8, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 8, 2014 Like the blue But, how do you know that this is not just the primer One might guess that because the ship name has been painted on and the indicators marking the bulbous bow and thrusters that the blue paint is the final coat. Starry Eyes Posted August 8, 2014 #10 Share Posted August 8, 2014 I like the color, and I like the contrast with the adjacent white. If it is the primer, it is the prettiest primer I have ever seen.
novicetraveller Posted August 8, 2014 #11 Share Posted August 8, 2014 They should have painted it pink. :o
Rare BillOh Posted August 8, 2014 #12 Share Posted August 8, 2014 Are convinced it is blue? Could it be the lighting reflecting off the ballast bulb or somewhere else?
ryano Posted August 8, 2014 Author #13 Share Posted August 8, 2014 Are convinced it is blue? Very much so convinced. It makes sense being that Oasis and Allure are also a very light shaded sky/baby blue from a certain point on down to the waterline.

Your probably right, but I've seen sodium lights really throw off the colors, especially when viewed in photographs later. My FIL once stood in a parking lot looking for his red car, he was standing next to what he thought was a brown car, turns out it was his.
Big_G Posted August 8, 2014 #15 Share Posted August 8, 2014 Holy cow! I never noticed the blue on Oasis or Allure. So much for my powers of observation.

I'm also convinced it is blue. If you look closely, you can see a white border around the bow area. It is a clean, straight line separating the two colors. It is a clean, straight line separating the two colors. You may be right, but the angle of those two surfaces is different and would reflect differently. I just a photo on facebook of Meyer workers at ground level and the water line down is dark blue around the thuster and bow bulb. I still think the photo looks bluer than it really is. I'm still guessing its the same color as the other newer ships. I've been married 33 years, so I'm use to being wrong once in awhile.
FLACRUISER99 Posted August 8, 2014 #19 Share Posted August 8, 2014 Photos from the above thread. Here's a couple of pictures I took of Allure of the Seas when I cruised her. You can easily see the blue hull when compared to Mariner of the Seas...
ryano Posted August 8, 2014 Author #20 Share Posted August 8, 2014 Photos from the above thread. You can definitely tell the difference and see the blue on Allure. Especially in the bottom photo.
Starry Eyes Posted August 8, 2014 #21 Share Posted August 8, 2014 It probably will look lighter in bright daylight than in interior lighting. Still, I think it will be a great color.

I'm not sure if you understood about the line I was talking about. I was referring to the white border right below the helipad area. It is the same angle as the blue area. However, I do agree it will probably be lighter in daylight.
LadyShiva Posted August 8, 2014 #24 Share Posted August 8, 2014 It's so new, they haven't taken the plastic off the hull. ;)
wolfcathorse Posted August 8, 2014 #25 Share Posted August 8, 2014 Richard Fain has stated in his blog during Oasis' construction that the hull is indeed a new marine paint that's pale blue. It increases fuel efficiency by cutting down on the drag in the water. Thus sayeth his highness Mr. Fain.
