sgermic Posted August 11, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2014 My parents are taking our family on a cruise to the Western Caribbean this fall, and as a thank you, I'd like to prepare a cruise-themed gift bag. My parents are the relaxing on the balcony, trivia playing, slot-machine types. As for excursions, I think it will be spent at the beach...EXCEPT for the Regatta Race we have scheduled in Cozumel. Any ideas on what I could include? Thanks!

EbayCruiser Posted August 11, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 11, 2014 A few items come to mind, if they don't already have them: A deck of cards, those little clips that hold your towel on your lounger, liquid soap for bathroom, lanyards, specialty restaurant coupon, OBC, just a few ideas! bouhunter Posted August 11, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2014 (edited) If they don't have them and you want to spend the money, a nice pair of binoculars. 150--200.00 will buy a very nice lifetime pair. For example check out the Burris semi-compacts 10-32 at Natchez dot com. VERY nice binoc's for the price and a quality gift for someone that will last a lifetime:) We never tire of looking off the balcony at islands, ships, etc with our binoculars. MichaelCMTX Posted August 11, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 11, 2014 In a case like this, the choice of the bag itself could be quite meaningful. There's always going to be something carried someplace.

I agree with this. I did this for a family group cruise once and all the bags came in handy. I also included sunblock, highlighters (for the compass), post-it notes for the mirror, disposable cameras (for kids) and a few other things. Since they like the casino, you can buy credits on the gift page if my memory serves me. Have fun planning.
fishteacher10 Posted August 11, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 11, 2014 (edited) My parents surprised us as well with a disney trip this October. I had a tote bag made from an online site that was able to personalize it with a picture and comment. I figured she could use it for so many things. I will also fill it with things like hand sanitizer, sun tan lotion and snacks that will keep their bellies full! griffy116 Posted August 12, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 12, 2014 The towel clips are great for use in the cabin, the beach or the pool deck. We included the tooth brush covers that are the sanitizer (sold in stores like Bed, Bath & Beyond), lanyard, cooling towel which turned out to be a HUGE hit with everyone because it was so nice at the pool, beach and on excursions in the sun, favorite bottle of wine (especially since they can now carry two bottles on board in their carry-on), the plastic wine glasses (not the flimsy disposable ones) to have out on the balcony for their wine. montekat Posted August 12, 2014 #13 Share Posted August 12, 2014 I like to make cruise themed pillowcase covers for travel pillows. Very easy to do and they are so handy. Also, insulated mugs, post-it notes, highlighters, travel clock, TSA locks if they are flying, and I like to make laminated luggage tags and personalized address labels. JFontaine Posted August 12, 2014 #16 Share Posted August 12, 2014 I get small battery operated votive candles - use them as night lights, in bathroom, on balcony. Take one per cruise - battery lasts for the cruise. They are a dollar or so apiece.
momof3cruisers Posted August 13, 2014 #17 Share Posted August 13, 2014 What is a "cooling towel"??? Look up Frog Togs on Amazon. They are the best I have found. I have MS and have tried out quite a few.:) basically, it is a towel or strip that you get wet. Some have water absorbing beads, others are a shammy like fabric. The coolness is retained and you can wear it on your neck, hold it in your hands etc. Very handy.

pinkroses Posted August 13, 2014 #19 Share Posted August 13, 2014 Mighty Lights recommended to me on cruise critic. Motion activated light. Runs on battery. Size is about 2" x 2". Our plan is to use it in the bathroom as the Allure is the only ship we have been on that has a night light in the bathroom. Tried it at home first. Great little things! I got them from Amazon. I would include the very small packets of Tide. They come in groups of threes designed specifically for the sink. I love these!!
