That's a great idea. I don't think it would work if you lived in Sydney though.

 

 

It maybe worth your while even grabbing a cheap flight from another city to Sydney to "trick" the system into zoning you as Australia.

 

Don't ask me why the system does this but it took me ages to workout.

You could fly Singapore - Sydney on SCOOT. At the moment, they have flights ranging from $128 to $258 depending on flying home the day the cruise ends, or a few days later.

And you can pick up a flight back on Qantas for around $400-$500 if you don't want to travel Scoot or Air Asia.

Also handy for the short reposition's here in Aus too, there were some really cheap cruise fares last year at the last minute but airfares were a killer :(

Thats how I booked my April cruise. Got the airfare first then waited on the cruise. Had a couple of options to pick cruises that would fit. And I waited for the cruise to drop and it did.
