bearette Posted August 15, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 15, 2014 From my research not much. I have read about a beach and some shops/ restaurants. I also read about a winery, but my cruise isn't until March so no personal experience. Sent from my KFTHWI using Forums mobile app

tsavorite Posted August 19, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 19, 2014 I can highly recommend George of George's Taxi tours http://www.taxikatakolon.com/index.php We had a great trip with him to the Temple of Apollo Epikourios at Bassae. A wonderful trip if you are deeply into the earliest Greek archaeology. We were the only people there, which perhaps indicates that it was a bit of a minority interest trip. But there are lots of other trips available as suggestions on the website

Sounds like exactly what I want to do on my next visit to Katakolon. :)
UKBayern Posted August 21, 2014 #8 Share Posted August 21, 2014 You should have really posted this in the Greece section. We rented a car and drove to the wonderful crusader fort of Chlemoutsi. Beautifully restored, no tourists around. Use the search function in the Greece section to find the posts where I and others shared info and photos (12 posts). winchman Posted August 28, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted August 28, 2014 Well we are back. Just wandered around, found a nice antique type shop in a back street and had a beer in a local bar
Summerl30 Posted September 16, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 16, 2014 We had planned to see Olympia but my father in law (whom we were spending another week after the cruise in athens) called and said he planned to take us to Olympia when we were seeing him so we could see the countryside and what not. So we decided to just walk around. We sat on the beach and ordered drinks and swam. That's it. And it was wonderful!
