Hawaii - cost from airport to hotel, hotel to pier

Hi,

If I book air and hotels on my own for Hawaii on POAM, I was wondering if anyone knew how far and what the approximate cost and best way to get from the airport to a hotel on Waikiki Beach is and then from the hotel to the pier the day of the cruise. Also, for a post stay at the Hilton Hawaii -- cost from pier to hotel. Thank you so much!

Our family members arrived in Honolulu on different days, so we each took a Roberts bus (easily available at the airport) that stopped at every hotel where a passenger was staying in Waikiki for $8/pp one way or a bit of a break if you buy a roundtrip ticket. We didn't buy roundtrip because we weren't sure how this was going to work out. If you buy a roundtrip ticket, you don't have to leave Waikiki from the same hotel that they dropped you off at pre-cruise. We would have paid $32 plus tip if we had all arrived at the same time and taken the bus together. I believe a taxi is about $25 plus tip for up to four people from the airport to Waikiki.

We took a taxi from mid-Waikiki to the ship (not as far as the airport) and paid $20 including tip for the four of us. We had quite a bit of stuff and it wouldn't have fit in a regular taxi, but did in a minivan.

We did the same thing in the opposite order going home becasue we didn't all leave on the same day. It worked out fine.

What I am trying to say is that it all depends on how many people you have in your party! Crunch the numbers and see what works best.

For the three of us, it was about $25 from the Hilton in Wakikki to the airport by taxi--the traffic was very good that day, so I would count on it being about $30 from airport to hotel.

From our hotel (Hilton) to the pier, it was $13; and from pier to Hilton ($13).

Also, double check with your hotel to see about a shuttle that goes from the hotels to the pier. We were at the Waikiki Marriott and we went to the Concierge, found out about the shuttle and took it. I think it was $12 per person.

Enjoy!

Just returned from the Pride of America Aug 13 sailing. We used Star Taxi, they advertise a flat rate of $25.00 from Honolulu airport to Waikiki. You have to book with them the day before you leave, and then call them once you have claimed all your baggage. They came quite quickly. You can check out their web site at www.hawaiistartaxi.net. From the HHV to the pier, we used Charleys taxi and the cost of that was $17.00 (there was traffic even on a weekend). We rented a car upon our return from the cruise.
