NOLAbebe Posted September 11, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 11, 2014 Have you ever brought a fan for your cabin? One for each passenger? How big was it? We have room in our luggage, but if it's going to be confiscated, there is no point in packing it! I bought two small, 5" battery-operated fans, but turns out they are tiny and only circulate enough air to keep my face reasonably comfortable. What do you do? If I bring anything larger, will it be allowed? I am not counting on good a/c OR a box fan from the steward. Tells what your solution is, please?
uapyro Posted September 11, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 11, 2014 I've brought a fan every year, and never had a problem. This is the one I have: http://www.amazon.com/Honeywell-HT-900-TurboForce-Fan/dp/B001R1RXUG They APPARENTLY don't have a size limit because I actually saw a guy totting this one off during disembarkation: http://www.amazon.com/Lasko-2265QM-20-Inch-Performance-Velocity/dp/B0073CQ9XA/ref=sr_1_7?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1410407186&sr=1-7&keywords=fans
NOLAbebe Posted September 11, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted September 11, 2014 (edited) Well, good grief! I don't think we'd bring one THAT big! Does your little Honeywell fan plug in, or is it battery operated? If it plugs in, what kind of extension cord do you bring and where do you place the fan? Does it reach your bedside table/shelf? missypriss19 Posted September 11, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 11, 2014 O2 Cool makes a 10inch that runs on batteries or electricity. It folds to easily fit in suitcase and I think it has good power. I bring one on every cruise and love it. Bought mine at walmarts Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
NOLAbebe Posted September 11, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted September 11, 2014 That is the brand we bought, but we got the 5" ones (battery-operated, folding), and they are WOEFULLY inadequate.
uapyro Posted September 11, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 11, 2014 Well, good grief! I don't think we'd bring one THAT big! Does your little Honeywell fan plug in, or is it battery operated? If it plugs in, what kind of extension cord do you bring and where do you place the fan? Does it reach your bedside table/shelf? It's a plug in. I bought these two things for this cruise specifically since we weren't in an interior room. Then I was just able to run the cable along the wall/floor taped. But in the balcony room the layout is different and it had to go across the middle of the room. I just sat the fan and CPAP on the table pulled a little bit closer. http://www.homedepot.com/p/KAB-Enterprise-Co-Ltd-20-ft-16-3-Cord-Reel-with-4-Outlets-CR002/100661463?N=5yc1vZc5bl http://www.homedepot.com/p/Legrand-Wiremold-5-ft-Over-Floor-Cord-Protector-CDBK-5/100669770 And I don't have a picture of the fan out, but here's the cord and the table it was on:
Markmom18 Posted September 11, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 11, 2014 For our recent Glory cruise we bought a 10" one at a CVS Store in Miami. It. Was $12. I used it in our hotel room ( InterContinental) and it passed my test. I put it on a chair each night...loved the breeze on my face! I left it in the cabin on purpose, maybe some other person can get relief from it. :)
BamaLady#13 Posted September 11, 2014 #8 Share Posted September 11, 2014 I just purchased the O2 Cool 10 inch. It was easy to find at both WalMart and Target. It is very slim and puts out a remarkable amount of air for its size. I'll be taking it on our upcoming cruise on the Liberty.
NOLAbebe Posted September 11, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted September 11, 2014 Thank you! We will definitely be getting at least one larger fan!
SARGE7302 Posted September 11, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 11, 2014 A guy from my last cruise in June brought a box fan as carry on and had no problem. Sent from my iPad using Forums

It is similar to this one. http://www.amazon.com/O2COOL-NEW-Battery-Operated-Adapter/dp/B00ATSHMIQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1410433648&sr=8-3&keywords=o2+cool
tncap Posted September 16, 2014 #12 Share Posted September 16, 2014 We take this one for white noise only. Wouldn't recommend it for cooling. http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/comfort-zone-reg-4-inch-cradle-high-velocity-dual-powered-fan/3249300?Keyword=fan
dbenlee Posted September 16, 2014 #13 Share Posted September 16, 2014 We always take one when we cruise and have never had a problem. I keep it clean and in good shape. This is a newer version of the one we take. It oscillates and moves plenty of air without being to big. http://www.amazon.com/Lasko-4911-11-85-Inch-Twist-Top-Tower/dp/B0073CQ8OU/ref=sr_1_27?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1410903801&sr=1-27&keywords=lasko+fan
