Go to the PA Vital Statistics web site there are about six offices around the state you can walk into before 2pm and get it the same day. One is in Scranton near you. Photo ID Required It will be necessary to present valid government issued photo identification. Examples of acceptable identification are a state issued driver's license or non-driver photo ID with requestor's current address, passport, etc. Payment Payment for walk-in services is by check or money order only ($10.00 per certified copy of birth and $9.00 per certified copy of death). No fee may be required for records of Armed Forces members and their dependents. Birth Records Please allow sufficient processing time for walk-in services. Same day processing is not available for genealogical requests. Unfortunately he is not related so I can not get it up here in Scranton.... I will call this morning and see how Philadephia is with birth certificates...
