TardisDance Posted October 2, 2014 #78 Share Posted October 2, 2014
Just checked about 10 sailings on a couple ships and interestingly enough there were price increases on 9/24 and 9/25 about 10%. What are the rest of you seeing?
Same, about 10% increase even for sail dates a year or more out. I'll pass on this deal. I can only do so much with obc. Texasramblinreck Posted October 2, 2014 #79 Share Posted October 2, 2014 The difference in our price for an October 2015 14 day Canada-Bermuda cruise which we booked in August 2104 was a $1,783 increase... Adjusting the new OBC of $ 765 versus the old one of $300 leaves a $465 difference which still makes the new "Special" $1,218 MORE !! Boy, this is certainly not a good deal for us! I am glad to see everybody has caught on to this ripe off by NCL. I just returned from the Gem staying in the Haven Suite and it was wonderful. I have a 2 bedroom Haven suite booked for March thank goodness! I was checking prices before my cruise and as late as Tuesday night for a 10 day Panama Canal cruise December 2015. I was told about the 10% and boy was I shocked. The cruises I was looking at went up $2,000 overnight and I got a $1,000 OBC in return. Since I not longer got the $300 OBC, it was a net increase of $1,300. NCL was already about $2,000 more than Princess for a same size suite, now its $3,300. No thanks!! Just for pricing I checked the cruise I have booked in March and its is $3,700 more for an additional $700 OBC. What is NCL thinking, do they think everyone is stupid. If they don't come to their senses after 10/14 when this stupid sale ends, we will be returning to Princess, which we have sailed 6 times and never had anything like this happen. I also checked Royal Caribbean pricing as well and they didn't go up as well. I was really considering NCL for my December 2015 cruise, but I'm afraid they have really blown it with this stunt. I am really surprised some are not seeing the increases I have, but it might not affect the inside and balcony cabins as much. Too bad I really enjoyed the Haven, but not enough to pay outrageous prices for it. I guess since NCL has purchased two other cruise lines and order 3 new ships, they think they can raise prices from 40 to 50 percent.

There's a big fuss about it going on over there in the sub-forum. I personally saw their prices rise immediately after the wow sail was implemented. But, yes, I am disturbed and annoyed by NCL's business tactics. Edited October 2, 2014 by cruisecritiquer
JMHAM1 Posted October 2, 2014 #82 Share Posted October 2, 2014 My online TA will double the offer for the OBC. Was not clear to me if you get 10% of the first two in the cabin fare or the lowest published fare for the cabin aboard. Meaning you could book a suite and get OBC equal to 10% of an inside. I just saw it today and have not had time to check further. If it's 10% of what you book and my TA doubles it, I may cancel and rebook. We need side by side cabins and want particular ones Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

Be aware that prices went up quite a bit depending on your cabin and in most cases it is not worth it. Its just a rip off by NCL, I hope people don't fall for it. Rhea98 Posted October 3, 2014 #84 Share Posted October 3, 2014 (edited) At least two people got great deals on Epic spa balconies for Nov 16, if they were new bookings . They were at the lowest price since inception (according to the c fish) plus the 10%. I got the low price on Monday (up sell) with an OBC increase from $25 to $50. There are some deals out there, mostly for those who haven't already booked, it seems. Edited October 3, 2014 by Rhea98
RCT Posted October 3, 2014 #85 Share Posted October 3, 2014 Well we lucked out. Our Med cruise in November went down from what I thought was a good deal already. We are past final payment, but I asked our TA to check with NCL anyway and they upgraded us from a standard balcony to a mid ship mini suite. Couldn't be happier. candygirl27540 Posted October 3, 2014 #86 Share Posted October 3, 2014 You have to check carefully. Our Bermuda cruise went up a whopping $5 whole dollars and some cents, but we gained an extra $225.! in obc. We did book this Jan 2014 for a cruise May 2015 so many months in advance. Our Venice cruise did increase in price by $850. ish so the extra obc did not do us any favors. You must be vigilant about your bookings and I think that the earlier you can book the better. CasinoCruzGirl Posted October 3, 2014 Author #87 Share Posted October 3, 2014 None of these sales are ever good for me because I book through CAS and get such low costs actually comp balcony just paying taxes and fees. Does anyone who books through CAS ever get a better deal? I can't see it ever happening. The cabin I'm booked in is mid ship balcony $639 for 2 of us and the same category is going for $829 pp = $1658

Although my cruise went up $60 we now have $250 in OBC plus and additional $100 bucks from our TA. So $350 for $60 bucks more, not so bad. :D
neechofish Posted October 3, 2014 #90 Share Posted October 3, 2014 Hi First time cruiser - about to book a NCL cruise. This 10% onboard credit is not showing on the UK or European sites, just on the US site, but the terms and conditions imply that it is available to all passengers. If i book on the UK site (or the European one for that matter) will i still get the onboard credit?

FSNA5861 Posted October 4, 2014 #96 Share Posted October 4, 2014 We were looking at a few cruises from Port Canaveral at 11am today and by 2 pm, some of the prices had gone up by more than $200 pp. As some other members mentioned, I totally agree with the comments that NCL raised the prices to offset the 10% discount. We will wait till after this questionable promotion to book future cruises.
SilentHill Posted October 4, 2014 #97 Share Posted October 4, 2014 Don't know if it was mentioned or not, but this promotion goes from the 1st to the 14th and not 1st to the 4th.
