TEXASMUNK Posted October 6, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2014 Seems the Port of Galveston has hit all the private parking lots with a major increase in base costs of around $64,000 per year. They also changed the routing to get to the small private businesses, by making everyone using one of them drive about a mile west, then face a stop sign with Galveston Police directing traffic and making sure the line gets long..like a mile long. Too bad, these small lots have better pricing and much friendlier staffing. Writing our Texas State Senator and asking for any assistance they can offer to the small business folks. Posted this on the Carnival thread as well.
setsail Posted October 6, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) What's the savings for a private lot over the port lot for a 7 day cruise? I googled and it seems the savings is 10$ -25$ total for a 7 day Edited October 6, 2014 by setsail
JasonV1 Posted October 6, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2014 So lets make Galveston, already my least favorite US cruise port (excluding West coast, never sailed out of their ports), even more "unfavorable" to cruise passengers. I feel for the Texas folks who enjoy having such a close cruise port. No one likes shelling out more money even before you get on the ship!
