garycarla Posted October 15, 2014 #76 Share Posted October 15, 2014 I quoted Jackson Bernard, I think your posting that it happened to you is very helpful, I just didn't think his response was helpful to you or anyone else as it's his go-to post when things don't go smoothly. I hope you get your money back soon. Yes, that poster has a "_____" attitude about dealing with these things. He has no idea what running a business is like or the repercussions of his actions. Sad. Because of a small, very small, group of people like him, we all pay in the end.
ColinIllinois Posted October 15, 2014 #77 Share Posted October 15, 2014 ............................. I only hoped to enlighten others who might experience the same misinformation. I did not need to be blamed, lectured, or insulted, nor did I intend to start an argument. Simply by virtue of posting on the NCL forum there is about a 40% chance of that happening. ;) Hang in there. I'm sure it will all work out. Keep letting them take and hold your money. The execs need a bigger bonus. It certainly ain't going to the crew. What sad is when they say jump, some say how high? People have to stick up for what's right, and the internet makes it a lot easier.

Hoping she gets her money back timely won't help. She needs to take action. Do something. Use the resources that are available to her, not just sit around and hope. Oh, and it is not my go to post....but it works like a charm.

How to start a argument in Cruise Critic: Step 1 - Post something even kittens Step 2 - Wait for someone / couple of people to get really negative and ridiculous in the 1st 2 pages Step 3- ???? Step 4 - Profit!! :D Don't worry OP, you'll get your money, maybe even sooner than you think!!

Next time, you know to bring less money for onboard spending for the both of you. :)
tjncanada Posted October 26, 2014 #84 Share Posted October 26, 2014 I agree with the idea in principle but for it to work you need to budget based on the minimum you expect to spend. Rather than target a zero dollar account at the end it would be easier to accept the idea that there will be a bit left to pay. If you monitor your prepaid balance as you go it will give you an idea of where you are vs your budget. I wouldn't add extra "just in case" - it doesn't make sense to over-pay only to go through the hassle of trying to get a refund.
agabbymama Posted October 26, 2014 #85 Share Posted October 26, 2014 (edited) Someone asked if you could cash out (pre-paid OBC) at the casino without the 3% fee. NO, they will still charge you the 3% to get your cash. I had a similar incident on the Star in 2011. I was leaving the next weekend for a trip to Hawaii, so I wanted the remainder of cash. I was willing to pay the 3% to know I had that extra money to take with me. AND they do not always use NCL OBC first before using the pre-purchased OBC. I had $200 of my pre-purchased $1000 OBC left and still had the $100 NCL OBC on the last night of the cruise. So they were using my pre-purchased OBC for the DSC and excursions and dinners, but one excursion was cancelled. I purchased a Guess watch for the $100 from NCL and had my $200 cash in hand when I left the ship. I will never again pre-purchase OBC. swedish weave Posted October 26, 2014 #86 Share Posted October 26, 2014 Got my refund checks 2 weeks, plus 2 days after cruise end, I read your earlier comment about not intending to start an argument. You can start an argument on these boards by saying "good morning". lol Glad you got the problem worked out.

Kind of forgot about the question. Guess the CC email reminders work.
