When I take this cruise, I have booked a 2:45pm flight at Newark airport(the ship arrives at 7:00am). Do you guys think that is enought time to get off teh ship and to the airport?

 

You are saying the day before? Or do you mean 2:24 a.m.? The ship probably

doesn't leave till 4:00 p.m. so that should be enough time. And what month?

We could have snow storms now till spring. Who knows.

I had a 10:30am flight home the same day but I think it would be too close, so I purchased tickets for 2:45pm. After reading the reviews looks like I will be fine. Some people even mentioned that I might be able to make 10:30am. 10:30 would have been too stressful so I am happy I have 2:45pm tickets.

BTW this will be for Saturday May the 2nd.

Capt Liz, waiting for your cell phone call, guess you could not get a USA cell phone to borrow to call me. Sorry would have like to speak to you. Hope you are staying over to visit New York City before you fly back to Scotland.

Irene,

I got an email from Liz this morning around 1030 am saying she was two hours from home, guess she had arrived in UK and was waiting her flight to Scotland.

I expect we will both get emails in the next day or two with regards to getting the critter flags.

I don't smoke, so am probably not the best person to answer smoking questions, but will tell you what I know. At one point very early on they said Quantum is a no smoking ship in one of the announcements. I think it was mainly aimed at getting people not to smoke on the balconies. Given the weather the first several days I don't think that ended up much of a problem anyways. By the end of the week the Casino was fairly smokey so evidently it is allowed there.

 

None of the indoor bars were evidently able to offer smoking. There was a bar on the pool deck and lots of comfortable covered sitting essentially walled on 3 sides where many people went to smoke. Lots of ash trays were made available for this. Although we don't smoke, we often sat there a bit in the evenings because it was so comfortable. We also found a mostly enclosed smoking area on deck 5 starboard. I saw people smoking cigars there on the evening we came across it.

 

Other than these areas, we did not see any smoking. Possibly it was not done on the upper deck 15 because of how windy it was and not due to any ban there. We did not know smoking was allowed at the North Star bar because we never saw it, but wind was probably involved there.

Thanks everyone for your appreciation! We still have more photos to publish on Shutterfly, and I'll do a report of the last day as disembarkation. I was also one of the crazy ones that woke up at 5am to watch and party during the sail in. Not a bad way to start a Monday. :)

 

 

jv_nyc thanks to you and all of the other reviewers. You all did a FANTASTIC job and we greatly appreciate you taking the time. :cool:

Hi. Very excited will be in RFS ooN 4/12 sailing Quick question:do they have the go phones to keep track of group or is there an iPhone app for this as promised? Thank you

 

 

 

The app is free. We downloaded ours from ITunes. Apps for Androids are not yet available.

 

Using the app to keep track of a group might have fees applied.

I haven't had time to read through the posts as just home a couple of hours ago and not had sleep since Sunday...but ...I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who ordered our Quantum 11/2 Pins and lanyards and tshirts and 11/23 Inaugural Pins and tshirts and to let you know that just over $2100 was handed over to Captain Patrik at the M&M for Make A Wish.

Thank you everyone from the two roll calls who supported the Critters 2014 Project.

 

Also thank you Captain Patrik for making me laugh at the M&M when I was so ill due to seasickness (first time ever).

 

What an amazing M&M that was.:D

 

Also have to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in the Walk for Wishes and thank you to Zach the Activities Director for getting it organised so quickly for us.

 

p.s. for smokers...deck 5 starboard side, glass enclosure is the smokers area.You can get to it from the automatic doors near the elevators and also there are two other doors out to the area just past Vintages on the way to Two70.

If this is true, I'm canceling my February cruise on Quantum today.

 

No flames here. I need a cool room for sleeping too (meaning 68 or less).

 

I am dreading my Quantum cruise next week if it is going to be too warm in the cabin at night.

There seemed to be a temperature gradient from the balcony door (bed next to it) to the thermostat. While it may have said and was 71 at the thermostat, it was not that warm by the time you got to the bed.

 

This time of the year it's easy to cool off a balcony room - just crack open the door.:cool:

That's so great about the funds raised for MAW. What all did you do? My grandchild received a MAW in 2012.

I had pins for 11/2 and 11/23 sailings designed by a friend and I designed a lanyard and tshirts. I found a great UK company for the pins and then I put everything out there for ordering.

300 pins for both sailings sold out some time ago.

As I am not now doing the 11/23 sailing, Eshop (Bob) will have everyones packages of pins ready for them to collect on 11/23 sailing. Actually the pins are now on the ship.

 

I knew there was going to be a MAW sailing 14-16th November which is why I made the presentation to Captain Patrik at our 11/2 M&M of all the funds from the Critters 2014 Project...Captain Patrik will then be able to hand it over to MAW on their sailing.

Unfortunately that caused a very loud howling of the wind in our cabin. Not a fan at all. [emoji22]
