S.P.Q.R./Morunt Posted October 26, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2014 We are not sure when ship gets in, probably 8 or 9. There is a 850am train which we doubt we can make. How far is cab ride to train? Can we prebook as a non resident of Italy the 9 euro price? There is a slower train at noon which is OK. We are trying to check in before the cut off at our BB in Rome. Thanks
Langoustine Posted October 27, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 27, 2014 I'm not sure what day you're looking at that lists a train from Genoa to Rome for 9 Euro, but you can certainly book any fare you find on the Trenitalia web site.
perilizia Posted October 28, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 28, 2014 The cab ride to Genova Piazza Principe station should be no more than ten minutes. The 12.12 train to Roma Termini is actually more than an hour faster than the 8.51, though is likely to be slightly more expensive. The 12.51 train takes about the same time as the 8.51 and could be cheap.

euro cruiser Posted November 5, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 5, 2014 What's most important to you, total travel time, cost, direct train? Looking at the options, I'd go for the 12:12 Frecce because the increase in cost (vs. the IC train) isn't that much and it's nice to save an hour and fifteen minutes. However, you still arrive in Rome two hours later than the 8:51 train (assuming you could even make it).
Flygirl25 Posted November 12, 2014 #6 Share Posted November 12, 2014 Don't take a taxi. Piazza Principe station is directly opposite the cruise terminal, you can walk it in 5-10 minutes. Taxis are hard to find in Genoa and probably none will take you for the small trip.
