Rare niksmom630 Posted November 11, 2014 Author #76 Share Posted November 11, 2014 The cruise director is Jeffery Arpin. Last night we went to the Two Poets pub where Papa T was playing...."A to ZZ Top". Most people both in the pub and seated on the Promenade were deeply engrossed in their own private conversations. He was a decent performer, but the crowd was not engaged at all. We left after about 20 minutes. I think we will try the Schooner Bar at some point where the piano man, T. A. Williams is performing...a few photos from the pub/promenade last night... Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
Rare niksmom630 Posted November 11, 2014 Author #77 Share Posted November 11, 2014 Backing up a bit to Day 2....we had our slot pull yesterday at 3.....we all cashed out with $17.00! We had a great turn out. I think there were over 30 of us. Beverage selections at the casino bar.... Which brings me to random observations and tid bits/info from day 2. - there are no free pours in the bars on this ship. I thought perhaps this was something unique to Navigator due to Texas liquor laws, and expected things to change when we hit international waters. Nope. All drink pours are now measured in the hour glass shaped thingamajig. My piña colada was so weak, I ordered another shot of dark rum to pour on top of it, which priced out my one beverage at $14.00. The drink package is starting to look more appealing if this becomes a fleet wide trend. I am still trying to get confirmation on what is included--have been to 2 bars already, all they can tell me is how much it costs. For the poster looking to find out if the Champagne is included, I'll keep looking - we never saw our bar server in the MDR last night, so I could further inquire about the demise of the "shot of the day". - our assistant waiter continues to shine and be the highlight of our MDR experience. We learned last night this is her first assignment. she has only been on board a few weeks.. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
Rare niksmom630 Posted November 11, 2014 Author #78 Share Posted November 11, 2014 We have a short day in Cozumel today. The ship is expected to clear at 8:30, all aboard is 3:30. The ships clocks will be set forward one hour this evening. We will be getting off to pick up my annual supply of vanilla, but then we will be coming back on board. I have been to Cozumel more times than I can count, so no excursions planned today. There is a Veterans Day remembrance and moment of silence with a trumpet solo on the Promenade this evening, followed by the 70's disco party, so our evening will likely be spent there. Last night was formal night in the MDR. this sign was posted outside--BARE FEET????? No words...... More later, off to capture some pics as we are pulling into Cozumel... hardyz13 Posted November 11, 2014 #80 Share Posted November 11, 2014 Walked past that sign so many times and never noticed that. Why are they setting the ships time an hour ahead? I did notice that the bar server in the mdr was really slow/behind. Day 3 I started getting a drink before we entered the dining room. I think it really depends on the bartender on the pours, some drinks I had were way more stout than the ones in the schooner and casino bars. If you want your monies worth for a drink try the Cosmo bar. Not sure if this was the question, but I had the premium package and drank all the champagnei wanted. Thanks for the post I really didn't take any pictures of the ship. Wish I was on it 18 degrees here today. :(
SA Traveler Posted November 11, 2014 #81 Share Posted November 11, 2014 The no free pours is supposed to be across the fleet now. On the Navigator the best drinks are at the R Bar. If you like cucumbers, try the cucumber martini there. I think the music is quite varied as for as the various performers are concerned. I had never noticed before but after I saw all the complaints about it on CC I did realize that the music that plays all day in the Promenade is only country. If you don't spend much time there you probably won't notice it. If you spend a lot of time there and don't like country music I can see why it might get annoying. frawnsay Posted November 11, 2014 #91 Share Posted November 11, 2014 Thank you for your review! We'll be sailing RCI on the Navigator for the first time in July! I love seeing pictures of the ship! And we have a JS booked, too! My DH doesn't know it yet, though ;) He will be surprised with his much-desired aft view! If I may, I have a question about vanilla purchasing. We are planning an excursion in Cozumel, but like you want to pick up some vanilla. Perhaps in a shopping area nearby, is there vanilla available to purchase near the port/docks once we return from our beach day? TIA

We honeymooned in Mexico a few years ago and JUST exhausted our vanilla stash. When I told my DH that we were officially out, he responed, "That's it--we're going back to Mexico!" :D So, though we have been to the country, we've not been to Cozumel or had the cruising experiences. Very appreciative of reviews like this and CC veterans!

Rare niksmom630 Posted November 12, 2014 Author #100 Share Posted November 12, 2014 Thanks so much for taking the time out of your cruise to answer questions and show pictures. I have a questions about your Jr. Suite. My husband and are will be on Navigator in the future. So far away, in October of next year. Is there only the couch and chair at the dressing area? Other pictures have shown one additional chair and Ottoman in the room. It looks like a Balcony room to me. Also is there 4 chairs on the balcony? What room were you in? Can you get a picture of the bathroom? Thanks so much!!! Enjoy your cruise! Here are some additional photos of the jr. Suite. I'll be back tomorrow with more photos and a recap of today. Losing an hour this evening! 😁 Sent from my iPhone using Forums
