crochetcruise Posted April 4, 2015 #101 Share Posted April 4, 2015 We took advantage of the afternoon BOGO on the Regal in December 2014. While very crowded, we never had a long wait to order at the bar. The bartenders are extremely efficient at filling orders. We would stock up on bottled water (both sizes) and beer (both cans and bottles). I asked them to leave the beers unopened and that was never a problem. The only problem was the fridge not being big enough to hold our stash! Ordering at the bar also provided some good afternoon entertainment due to the constant flow of customers and the unavoidable confusion of how to place your order. Customer: I'd like two... Bartender: So do you want two or four? :) Note made to take a collapsible insulated shopping bag with me-I DO need to get something to eat cold for the previous night's tea at the hotel--fussy eater-so your post has reminded me to put this on my list! I could buy another bag if I got to the supermarket and remembered I'd forgotten to bring it, but I have plenty already so why waste money-it's a can of soft drink or some casino credit for me by bringing my own? Thanks for the discreet prompt about a possible problem, now planned for! 54 weeks today to flying to Melbourne to embark, so will be in Melbourne, and getting excited! AliceS Posted April 4, 2015 #102 Share Posted April 4, 2015 How for I find your blog (new to forum) Just Google Vickie Bernie Travel and it'll pop right up for you. Tons of information. Now, for the Happy Hour and bottles of wine.....on the Royal in January/February of this year, I was late to get to the party, but it was BOGO a bottle of wine....take it to your room or the dining room...no problem and then, it changed. Seems the Dining room has issues with that and it was no more. You could still buy a glass and get a glass. Then, I went to the Coral and it was BOGO wine by the bottle...only Clos Du Bois chardonnay, but it's a good deal. There are other wines, but that was a chardonnay that I can drink and enjoy. Now, the price is a little more than the dining room, you are charged for 5 glasses of wine, but you still get the other bottle. I did feel odd walking into the dining room with the bottle, but I did buy it on the ship??? They need to clairfy this one. No on the Royal, YES on the Coral??? Bazz100 Posted May 26, 2015 #103 Share Posted May 26, 2015 We did 20 days on the Royal in March/April in the Caribbean. They had BOGOF between 15.00 and 16.00 every day in Crooners except embarkation day when the Muster Drill was on. They also had the BOGOF offer in Club 6 between 23.00 and midnight. We had no problems buying multiples of both beer and sodas and they were more than happy to leave the cans unopened. There was never a wait of longer than a few minutes at the bar and they often had as many as six bartenders behind the bar. I did enquire about buying a bottle of wine and getting the BOGOF offer a couple of times with different bartenders and the answer was a very emphatic "No sir, only by the glass". We have a Panama Transit on Island this December and I would like to know if anyone has experienced the BOGOF offer recently on her and if so which bar do they use? Thanks in advance. Crochetcruise  When we were on the Diamond in January (Australia/NZ), there was no happy hour and, by the way, no wine packages. There was some issue in that part of the world with discounted liquor. On the Royal this month, happy hour was in full swing, but you could not get bottles of wine. Everything else was 2-for-1, cocktails, martinis, beer, wine by the glass, little bottles of Korbel, soda, bottled water, you name it. I also noticed if you liked a drink that was not on the list at Crooner's, most of the time they would make it for you e.g. Mojito, Mai Tai, etc. If you are on the Royal, look for Frankie, he will take care of you. mickrory Posted May 29, 2015 #110 Share Posted May 29, 2015 We had a great waiter on Grand to Hawaii in January. As the Happy Hour was only in the Wheelhouse and we were up on the Sun deck he made 2 or 3 trips down to the Wheelhouse between 3 and 4 on sea days for our cold bud lights. He didn't seem to mind either as he wasn't exactly run off his feet up there as hardly anyone was drinking, whereas the Wheelhouse was rammed, you couldn't find a seat. Also looked after us in the Nightclub between 2300-midnight. Saved us a few $$'s on our final bar bill and got himself a decent tip at cruise end. johnnycruise Posted July 23, 2015 #116 Share Posted July 23, 2015 Just off the Royal on 7/20. Deal is now buy one, get the second for $1. Incremental income creep ... HAL has something similar (albeit with rotgut liquor). Too bad, it was "buy one - get one" just three weeks ago!

Pstcrik Posted July 24, 2015 #124 Share Posted July 24, 2015 Just been on island princess first two days it was bogof then changed to 2nd one costs 1 dollor. Yes this is what happens when people start taking advantage of a perk or a good deal. The company try's to see if they can get another dollar and if it works then they try buy one get second at half price and so it goes. Instead of making customers happy where they feel they are getting a good deal and they tell others which most often increases sales which increases the companies income they give people the thought how the company likes nickel and dimming and this also gets spread around and now the company becomes the norm. Marketing 101.
