Strenz Posted December 12, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 12, 2014 Hi, when we went through the canal we started around 6 am, beautiful with the backdrop of a sunrise. It took the entire day and we had to tie up to a pier just befor the Bridge of the Americas to wait for low tide to get under it. That in itself was fascinating because of the optical illusions where the sails meet the bridge. You are certain it will crash. Have a great time, Panama Canal on a small sailing ship it was wondeful. toucan1737 Posted December 12, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted December 12, 2014 Thanks! Friends are on it, starting tomorrow. We haven't done that one but have done 6 others on Windstar. LOVE them. So it's daylight when you go thru Gatun locks? I guess so.....you said sunrise. Thanks again.
Crusin Kelly Posted December 12, 2014 #4 Share Posted December 12, 2014 IF you can find the time the ship goes through, or if you have the time to spend on the computer, you might want to look at one of the Panama Canal Web Cams. We got friends of ours to do a screen print from this website (we used international minutes to tell them when). Makes a pretty neat souvenir. http://www.pancanal.com/eng/photo/camera-java.html or you might try this one: panamacanallivecam.com you can also track the ship using Marine Traffic - shows the (relatively) current location http://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/details/ships/shipid:369611/mmsi:309056000/vessel:WIND%20SPIRIT Kelly
