Greetings to all!

Thanks for the encouraging comments on the upcoming world voyage! Got a pizza baking in the oven right now, as we look outside watching the cold rain coming down....

John, that is good news that we are on the Tales of the South Pacific again. Looking forward to seeing you.

Hello Sandra and Alan......seems like forever since we have seen you guys! Only a few more days now....

Judy and Glenn..great to hear from you. We were hoping you may be on the cruise this year, but being caretakers is number one. Maybe next year.

Happy holidays to all!

We have done Italy in 4 weeks and Australia (2 trips) 3 weeks and 4 weeks. I CANNOT EVEN IMAGINE being gone from home for over 4 months.

Sleeping in a strange bed, worrying about health issues, hospital/doctors availability.

The logistics of receiving paychecks, paying bills, watering my plants & trees, feeding the animals, etc. must be absolutely mind boggling.

Not to mention, being on a ship that many days, EKE!

I guess I will have to be content to read your "live from thread" as I would never contemplate such a trip.

Hope you have a great cruise!

Report # 2 The final week before the cruise December 26, 2014 Friday Chilly & windy 53 degrees

Christmas day has come and gone. All the weeks of thought and preparation panned out to a fun time for everyone, especially the little ones. More than ever, we enjoy seeing Christmas through the eyes of the kids, who would patiently wait for "present time", but were oh so glad when Grandpa suggested to open them first this year. Even baby Kenny, one year old now, got excited when he found out ripping Christmas wrapping paper was just as fun as what was under it. We could never imagine not being here this time of year, especially when the grandkids are at this special age. They do grow up so quickly. Julie is already in middle school, and liking it, and Melanie will begin kindergarten in a few short years. With Julie playing piano, and Melanie rocking with her new play drum set, there may be music in their futures.

Even our short morning walk in our quaint town of Clayton was fun. Seemed like everyone we passed on the creekside trail said happy holidays, including the teenagers. With all the negative news these days, it is delightful to take a break and feel the comraderie that is in our own backyard so to speak. Even better to hear was the rushing clear waters of the seasonal creek in town. We sure hope this rain continues while we are gone. It is nice to see the hills and glens green once again.

By the way, we tracked the four duffels and found they were in Florida as promised........arriving four days after they left here. Hopefully, they are in one piece.

Well, we are down to three suitcases for the final packing. Mostly, it is stuff we did not want destroyed in the shipped duffels, or the electrical cords and plugs strips that usually gets your bags singled out for checking. Much easier to open the suitcase than the duffels. One thing nice is that the few clothes we are taking will be for warm weather. Surprisingly, the weather has taken a turn for the cold, and we should have our first frost tonight with the temps dropping to the low 30's. Up to now, we have been spoiled with fairly mild days and nights. Still, Florida is sounding better to us every day, and spending many lazy days onboard the Amsterdam!

To be continued..........

You say that you are taking few clothes, yet you have shipped 4 duffels and will bring an additional 3 suitcases; what the heck do you pack??? LOL

Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)
