Looking for ships that have good amount of music and dancing lounges

We have been on over a approx 15 cruises. We really enjoy to hop from lounge to lounge in the evenings to dance and listen to music (not especially the large theater productions). We prefer the larger ships since they usually have more lounges. Things have changed over the years whereas most of the cruise ships now have many "pay-for restaurants". Many of the lounges have been replaced with restaurants. We don't object to these restaurants but our last Norwegian cruise had nine pay-for restaurants, some of them with just a few customers, and just two lounges. We don't cruise Norwegian anymore.

So the question is: What ships have the most of the lounge entertainment that we are looking for??? We know we can check out the ships on-line and count the lounges but they usually don't tell you if a particular lounge has music or dancing.

We went on a Royal Caribbean (Legend of the Seas ?) it had a live band and dance floor playing every night before dinner in the atrium; that was nice.

Great questions, and not sure there is a good answer at the moment since the cruise lines seem to all be cutting-back on items like live bands. Probably the best bet is to go on one of the huge RCCI Mega Ships (.i.e. Oasis, Allure) since their large size breeds economies of scale that provide more entertainment options. We just returned from 14 days on the Celebrity Eclipse and were actually pretty pleased with the live music options....but not sure there was enough to satisfy your reasonable demand. But on our ship we did have a 4 piece smooth jazz group (from Colombia) with an excellent singer, a terrific Philippino band that could duplicate darn near any classic rock group, and some pretty talented ship's orchestra that served multiple functions. I will not bring up the controversial Perry Grant (u either love him or not) who has been on the Eclipse but is due for a vacation.

Our last cruise was two years ago, but there was plenty of live music on board the Golden Princess, including on New Years Eve. From the Piazza (Plaza deck, midships) to the pool deck to various lounges, there were pianists, pop bands, string quartet/quintet, even a Hawaiian duo.

Agree with Hank! There are very many live band options for dancing on RCCL Oasis/Allure. ;)
