Rare cruisequeen4ever Posted January 2, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 2, 2015 Someone recently posted on here that it's fairly common to disembark in Le Havre, France on the British Isles cruise. Has anyone done this? What are the required preparations? I know it must be pre-arranged with Princess, but I don't know anything beyond that. sunshine nana Posted January 2, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 2, 2015 We are hoping to disembark in LaHarve also. I have booked the Paris on your own excursion to get to Paris. Is that the best choice? Thanks
tcdcruiser Posted January 2, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 2, 2015 During our BI cruise no special prep was necessary. Many choose to visit Paris or the Normandy D-Day beachs, but be aware of the very long bus ride. Another alternative is to spend some time in Honfleur a beautiful french village/town. It an easy taxi ride. Consider it a "day off" from a very port intensive cruise.
waltd Posted January 2, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 2, 2015 (edited) I think the OP is talking about leaving the ship and not coming back. Yes it has to be approved by Princess and just remember there is the possibility that the ship may not make it into Le Havre due to weather so have a backup plan. Best to call Princess directly to get the information. Edited January 2, 2015 by waltd
luvtoteach Posted January 2, 2015 #5 Share Posted January 2, 2015 When we took this cruise we had to skip this port due to weather conditions. A lot of people were upset because they had planned to leave the ship at Le Havre. The English Channel was closed because of a hurricane.
Rare cruisequeen4ever Posted January 2, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted January 2, 2015 Ok, that's helpful to know that LeHavre is a port that is occasionally missed. Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app
Colo Cruiser Posted January 2, 2015 #7 Share Posted January 2, 2015 During our BI cruise no special prep was necessary. There is always prep required when disembarking in a port other then the one at the end of the cruise. ;)
