firsttimecruiser9876 Posted January 5, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 5, 2015 Hello all. Went on 4 day cruise out of Jacksonville and loved it. Would a 7 day cruise (eastern carribean) out of Port Canaveral be a good 2nd cruise? Wondering if this will be too many days for us......... JG-TX Posted January 5, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 5, 2015 NO!!! Been on 15 cruises and never done anything less than 7 days. You'll love it!
YubaSutter Posted January 5, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 5, 2015 Only you can answer that. Our first was a 7 day and the second was a 10 day. Great for us.
jeffinhouston Posted January 5, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 5, 2015 Seven days was the perfect amount of time for my first and only cruise. Never bored but was ready to get home on the final day. I cannot imagine it would feel too long but I suppose that depends on the person.
snc_cam Posted January 5, 2015 #5 Share Posted January 5, 2015 Only you can answer that. Our first was a 7 day and the second was a 10 day. Great for us. Did a 3 day one with wife/son to see if my wife would like them. She did. We have done 7,8 day cruises since. However, we did a 5 day one a few years ago and it was "too short". So you will enjoy the 7 and find it very hard to go back to the shorter ones :) Enjoy it
springs741 Posted January 5, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 5, 2015 Why would you think it would be too long? You enjoyed the first cruise. Did you have that feeling upon returning home that it wasn't long enough? That is a sure sign you will do well with a 7 day. I have done 8 Carnival cruises in less than 4 years and only one was a five day, the rest were 7 and 8 days. Leaving next month for a 12 day. love my grandkids Posted January 5, 2015 #7 Share Posted January 5, 2015 Our first two were 4 days. Since than we will not do anything less than 7-8 day ones
CRUZBUDS Posted January 5, 2015 #8 Share Posted January 5, 2015 Our first was 7 days, our second was 16 days. We haven't been on one that was too long yet. :)
cruiser fanatic Posted January 5, 2015 #9 Share Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) No!! My first and second cruise was 7 days. I prefer 7 days or longer. Edited January 5, 2015 by cruiser fanatic
asalligo Posted January 5, 2015 #10 Share Posted January 5, 2015 Only you can answer that. Our first was a 7 day and the second was a 10 day. Great for us. Exactly! My sister came back from her first seven day cruise and said that was too long to be on a boat. I feel like a 7 day cruise is over just as I am getting settled in and know that a 30 day cruise would still be over too soon for me.
tkportersat Posted January 5, 2015 #11 Share Posted January 5, 2015 The only way to know is to give it a try....if you loved 4 days, I am sure you will love 7. If you were antsy by 4 and ready to get off the ship then it may be too long for you.
CCLCruiser4321 Posted January 5, 2015 #12 Share Posted January 5, 2015 I've personally never heard anyone say 4 days was awesome but 7 no thank you. I always hear people say 7 days isn't nearly long enough I could stay another week Sent from my LGLS990 using Forums mobile app
jesscruiser Posted January 5, 2015 #13 Share Posted January 5, 2015 I don't like doing anything less than 7 days! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
srlafleur Posted January 5, 2015 #14 Share Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) It could seem too long, if you don't select the itinerary according to your port/sea day preference. For example, we love port-intensive itineraries and look for fewer sea days. (We generally don't do less than 7 days and haven't done more than 12) We wouldn't hate a longer itinerary, as long as there'd be a nice balance between the sea and port days. Transatlantic? Probably not in our immediate future, though we're not ruling it out for "someday", possibly as a means of transportation to/from Europe for an extended stay. chocolate melting cake Posted January 5, 2015 #15 Share Posted January 5, 2015 We've gotten to the point that if the cruise is less than 12 days we book back to back!
ILCruzr Posted January 5, 2015 #16 Share Posted January 5, 2015 I've done 4,5,7,8 and they are all too short! I love cruising and wish I could do a back 2 back. Its on my bucket list. But go for the 7 because 4 is way too short! Happy Cruising :)
CanadianDee Posted January 5, 2015 #17 Share Posted January 5, 2015 We've never done less than 7 days and I can't imagine doing less. :)
golfb4cruzing Posted January 5, 2015 #18 Share Posted January 5, 2015 That's all we've ever done. Anything less than 7 and the party is too short.
wareaglefan Posted January 5, 2015 #19 Share Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) I only take 5 day when added on with a 7 day or longer cruise! To me, the longer the better! Edited January 5, 2015 by wareaglefan
lisajm Posted January 5, 2015 #20 Share Posted January 5, 2015 I have done 3 7day cruises, 1 5 day, and 1 6 day. On the 2 that weren't 7 days i felt cheated! Agree with other poster though, like a mix of port and sea days. Upcoming cruise is port intensive, 4 port days in a row! 77 days and counting! Cruiserpkg Posted January 5, 2015 #21 Share Posted January 5, 2015 My first cruise was a "cruise to nowhere" which was basically a weekend. I chanced it and went for a 7 day after that and loved it. Now that I have done mostly 7 day cruises the one 5 day cruise I took 2 years ago seemed too short. I, too, think that the more days the better! Hoping to try a 10 day or longer some day. paul929207 Posted January 5, 2015 #23 Share Posted January 5, 2015 It will really depend on you. We have taken 32 cruises. The shortest was 8 days, but it was part of a 35 day b2b2b.
rjack22 Posted January 5, 2015 #24 Share Posted January 5, 2015 Good heavens NO! Our first cruise was 5 days so we could see how we "liked" it. It was over way too soon. Our second cruise was 10 days! Perfect.
Laughing Angel Posted January 6, 2015 #25 Share Posted January 6, 2015 No! The first couple of cruises I did were 7 Day trips and I loved it. Anything shorter than that would feel like a let down now. Having done those longer, standard trips, I would never consider anything less than the 7 days of fun and relaxation a cruise can provide. Only you can decide, but if you enjoyed the 4 Day, I think you'll have fun with a longer cruise.
